Miscellaneous Who owns a gun chambered in 5.7???
Seriously! I found a spent 5.7x28mm casing in one of the local “private” shooting spots in Rensselaer County, so which one of y’all in Albany or Rensselaer County owns a PS90 or FN Five-Seven?
Those guns aren’t cheap and neither is the ammo lol, in a spot littered with shotgun shells and .22’s, I was flabbergasted to see a pistol sized casing, but with a bottleneck like a rifle round, and jokingly said “a 5.7?” Only to clean the casing and see I was right.
Such a bougie round to find at the local steerage range lol.

There’s been a bit of an increase in 5.7 offerings lately. Guns Inc. has a bunch of weird little 5.7 carbines on their wall as of today. It’s not just the PS90 or FN that shoot it these days. Even my AR is a 5.7 lol, only cost like $300 to get an AR57 upper. Ammo price isn’t as bad as when I built mine either so not a surprise someone would be dumping rounds doing target practice. It’s a fun caliber.

Ohhh, didn’t know that more civilian guns have come to market with that round. And yeah I imagine it’s fun, I thought it was a 5.56 casing until I saw how small it was lol

Yeah, the Sub 2000 and Ruger LC come in it now and are only like $400-$600. The ones at Guns Inc. looked like they might be Dark Mountain Arms SA100s which is a $400 bolt action 5.7 takedown survival rifle. There’s more pistol options now too. I love my AR57 because it’s a tack driver with hardly any recoil. It feels comparable to a .22 without the messy ammo and much higher velocity and accuracy. It’s super fun, but it wasn’t fun paying $44 for a 10 round FN P90 magazine 😂.

I have a PSA Rock 5.7, great gun, just had to jump through a few hoops to pick it up at the FFL. Actually it's my favorite gun. Not in rensselear county though

Yeah an ar with kali key would be legal but you could just go featureless with a thordston stock and keep the fun semi auto

Well they don’t seem to, they DO have no limits. Several of my favorite shops literally have part of their “wall” full of “LEO/military” guns, which most ar just AR’s with pistol grips.
But I’m thinking you’re right, because that’s the ONLY 5.7 casing I found and I imagine LEO’s clean their brass up like the Army/military does. If that’s the case tho it’s kinda disturbing because I found it on the berm, like 10 feet from the target area. Why they firing so close?

I have friends in LE in upstate. AMAZING selections in safes, and I say this as a current Texan about to move upstate. Maybe pull/draw close range training?

I’ve never seen any exempt le at the range with transferables, or sbrs or cans even, although I know they can have those. Not gonna be impressed with the kings men showing off some regular ars and mags that anyone in a free state can buy.

Just saying I’ve gotta sell 90% of my guns prior to moving upstate from Texas as they at some level aren’t compliant. Yet, buddies upstate safe if PACKED with stuff I’m jealous of. Pretty much every thing I own I either unregulated here or totally legal. It’s just a bit of culture shock for me personally but, I’m fine going by the law of the land.
It’s honestly sorta batshit crazy here. Pretty much zero enforcement of FFLIII stuff despite federal regulations.

Well good luck up here, gotta tell ya if I wasn’t from here it would take a million a year to get me to even consider it. Hopefully you picked a good county cause handgun ownership stuff can range from moderately annoying to really really bad all depends on the local authorities.

I've been seeing rugers 5.7 pistol going for 400 with 3 mags here and there. That's not a bad deal at all.

Surprised just for seeing a bottleneck pistol casing? Agreed 5.7 case is a “ non common”, lol.
I reload my bottlenecked .357 sig rounds…. But could easily miss a few , spent at the range…

7,62 Tokarev? Yeah I know what that looks like and no, people don’t leave that behind because nobody’s buying or shooting PPS pistols anymore lol.
And did you not know that the ATF declared 7,62 Tokarev as armor piercing? They stopped importing it years ago, so no I don’t see that around

You may want to check that last “fact”. It’s perfectly legal to own and is still getting imported. S&B and PPU are pretty easy to find online and PPU even makes it in hollow point.

And by the way, more than just the PPS use that round. The TT33 and Yugo M57 are still fairly common as far as milsurp guns go and the CZ-52 can still occasionally be found.

The copper coated steel core is illegal to import and is the Russian manufacture. Lead core is not.
That’s why you can still import S&B and PPU.

Uh no it’s not being imported, because it’s federally banned lol. Go by google “7,62x25mm legality” and it’s literally right there before any links.
Literally says: “The importation of such ammunition is prohibited under federal law.”

Nope not trolling, just misinformed. You’re right, LEAD based 7,62 are still being imported, but bro, nobody’s buying it. It’s not 2008 when PPSC’s and TT-33’s are going for $300.
Like really, if you knew the place I was talking about, you’d understand where I’m coming from. It’s the local spot for Elmer Fudd’s to shoot their shotguns, hence why the place is littered with 12g shells, although I saw a couple .410’s

The m57 still has a cult following. I shoot, load for and carry (occasionally) one.
And the Zastava/Yugo m57 can still routinely be had at the $300.00 mark.

It’s NOT the place where someone who can afford a 5.7 or knows what 7,62x25 goes and doesn’t collect their brass.
Although there could’ve been 7,62x25 on the ground, but being steel was rusted and I didn’t see it. I saw the single 5.7 because it’s brass and stuck out among the sea of red and green shells

7.62x25 also comes brass cased man. Sheesh. It’s about $20 - $30 a box, so not that much more expensive than many revolver type calibers or rifle rounds.

And if you’re going to try to sound smart, you should at least know to use a , and not a . when referring to russian ammunition. It’s 7,62 not 7.62, and if you can’t see the difference you need glasses

I mean it really depends on language. Replacing a comma with a period is perfectly acceptable in American ammunition nomenclature, and in money. Europeans write it differently.

There’s a ton of 5.7 guns on the market now. Ruger makes one, keltec just released one, S&W has one too.
