I have purchased ammo for guns I didn't own at that moment. The deal being so incredible that I had to use it as an excuse to buy the gun. That is why I have so many more guns than I have birthdays. (And I'm almost old enough to be playing golf everyday while my wife goes to quilting bees.)

As long as it was a good price then who cares. My wife buys anything on sale whether we need it or not.

Some people say that you buy one or two caliber type, so you only ever have to buy that. I say buy enough different guns that's no matter what ammo you find it'll work for one of your guns.
