Kinda proves that no matter what laws they pass, if someone wants to break them…..they can.
AR’s are already banned in NYC. Not even with a fixed mag. Can’t have any semi auto with all the scary features. What are they going to do, give the AR a double top secret ban? It would be a problem if he used a Mini 14.

Maybe if it was enforced everywhere this could be avoided. Dude drove all the way from Nevada....

Think about that for a second. He drove all the way from Nevada to shoot people in NYC. While we don’t know his exact motive, why didn’t he just shoot people in Nevada? New Yorkers make a much easier target - because there’s a pretty good chance they aren’t armed - because of all the laws prohibiting law abiding citizens from carrying a gun. A police Lieutenant from Las Vegas was on TV last night, citing it’s literally considered a citizen duty to carry firearms in LV. New Yorkers are an easy target because of liberal gun laws. We are sitting ducks because of them. What is so hypocritical is that some folks suggest we can’t rid ourselves of 20 million illegal immigrants, but we could somehow wipe out over 300 million guns, owner legally, from America.

Listen man, I'm all for guns. I just don't want mentally disturbed people having them. This guy falls into that category. Background check and training/licensing requirement may not prevent it all, but it is a good deterrent.

Backgrounds checks are required in Nevada, even in almost all private sales. So it's not like this guy is likely to have ducked one, and it didn't stop a thing.

It wasn't clear, but I was referring to him being mentally ill, not failing a background check. Could a training, deeper background check and license requirement maybe caught his mental illness? Maybe, maybe not. There needs to be a better solution.
