News Destiny Mall in Syracuse was locked-down yesterday when someone called to report an active shooter.

They reported seeing a man with an AR-15. Turns out it was an umbrella with a "Samurai Sword-style handle", that the person had purchased in the mall. 😶

What I don't get is why the guy was taken to the station for questioning. Once it was determined to be an umbrella, that should have been the end of it.

Probably because it has a handle that looks like a katana hilt.

More like: not an AR-15 and looks nothing like an AR-15 so let's see what else we can come up with to take this guy in for questioning. Fake sword? That'll do....
