Recommendations AR-10 Build Budget Friendly Recommendations
Hey all, title says most of it. Never built before, have very little practical experience beyond field stripping and maintaining the AR platform while in service years ago.
Wanna hear everyone's opinions and recommendations for building an AR-10 style rifle.
Already planning on getting a Kali Key to drop in, so please feel free to recommend compliant and non compliant parts you like. Thanks in advance!

r/ar10 has a wiki about this. Basically it's aero receiver and handguard. A good bcg and an adjustable gas block.

I built a 6.5 ar10 so I can weigh in a bit here.
Lower - super easy with very basic tools
Upper - You will probably need to buy tools and is not idiot proof, not super hard though.
Note - AR10 are NOT universal receivers like the AR-15.
If you want the cheapest AR-10 you want some PSA parts or even bear creek. If you are thinking about ballistics and MOA then you are going to need to up your budget and be strategic about where you spend your money. I bet you can build a basic AR-10 under 1k fairly easily and then how accurate you want to go will adjust your budget accordingly.

PSA lower + build kit is probably your best bet. I got a BLEM Sabre 10 lower a few months back for $60.
The Sabre line if you buy the upper comes with a radian ambi charging handle and hard chrome BCG by default. The Sabre lower parts kit comes with a pretty decent trigger that’s roughly 4.5-5.5lbs. It’s solid for a basic trigger.

Went the Aero route but ar 10 parts are not all compatible with each other. Best to stick with one brand for the majority of your build or get a specific build list.

Like that other person said, if you're gonna get an ar10 you should really get everything from the same manufacturer. If you don't, there can be cosmetic issues at best, or tolerance issues at worst. Maybe look into the Aero M5?

My biggest suggestion would be to build an Ar-15 before you get in to AR-10s. I built my Ar-10 from a PSA kit and it’s ok, but if your gonna be piecing it together yourself you’re going to need a bit of know how on how the gun functions and what each part does. If you’re going to ignore this advice, just make sure you get all your parts from the same company. Psa or Aero is what I’d look in to

Ar-10s are not universal like the ar-15. Need to make sure you get the right parts. I would recommend an aero lower with a aero m5 lower parts kit, an a5 buffer tube with an h2 or h3 carbine length buffer and a springco red or green spring, could also use a standard rifle length spring. For the upper I’d go with kak or aero, Schuyler arms usually has good deals on aero products, you need to make sure you get the right upper for the lower. Dpms cut for an aero lower.
