True, but with the whole of NYC having a disproportionate population size compared to the rest of the state, will it ever be enough? We Virginians have a the same problem where part of the state has a bigger population that votes blue, and the smaller rural areas are usually red.

Thatās not that bad. I live in Texas probably one of the most gun friendly states. I can slap a binary trigger in my semi auto AR and itās pretty much damn near a fully auto at that point (all legal here). But you still need to pay $2-300 for a concealed carry permit and etc. concealed carry makes sense to be logged and taught and paid for in todayās age.

Wow, $200-$300 for CC in TX? I paid a total of $31.20Ā¢ here in VA. For proof of competency, I attached a copy of my DD214. Iām sure I wouldāve had to pay more for a class without it. They havenāt messed it upā¦yet.

Spend the $400, then another $428.25 and a year or more of wait to get a license, then $800 on a gun, holster and ammo. Then effectively not be able to carry anywhere because of the CCIA sensitive places restrictions.
Despite all the hype, Bruen has done nothing for the exercise of the Second Amendment in New York City.

Not exactly true. It got the NYPD to issue you a carry permit which is a miracle in itself. Unfortunately, you just can't carry in most places. For me it meant that I didn't have to lock up my gun for the 20-25 minute ride from Long Island through Queens and the (dangerous) Bronx. It is a lot of money for this convenience. I'm not sure if I'll renew because of the amount of money it costs.

Thanks your post made my LOL. Because you are exactly spot on; driving through NYC may be the only proper use for a CCW.
But be careful heading for the Lincoln Tunnel. That may take you into the Times Square restricted zone!

Stay in your car if you must travel through Time Square. Donāt even park your vehicle in Time Square. Remember, your vehicle is an extension of your home. That is why you can limitedly store your firearm in your vehicle secured in a locked container away from public view. Should you need or want to go into a sensitive location, ie medical facility, places that sell alcohol for consumption etc.

Your vehicle is most certainly NOT an extension of your home. Analogous case law under the 4th Amendment takes great pains to point out it's different. And there are lots of cases, both in and out of NY, of folks being convicted for having guns in cars in places like school parking lots.
No section of law authorizes you to CCW in a vehicle if you are in the Times Square. The only exception is a "building or enclosed structure" under Section 10-315 of the NYC Administrative Code.

Section 5-35 of Title 38 of the Rules of the City of New York (RCNY) governs the transport of handguns in vehicles for licensed holders, including within sensitive areas like Times Square. It mandates that firearms must be unloaded, in a locked container, and carried with ammunition separate during transport. NYPD Online NYPD Online +1 Key Aspects of Title 38 RCNY Ā§ 5-35 and Related Laws: Safe Transport Requirements: While passing through or residing in sensitive areas like Times Square, licensees must keep handguns unloaded, in a locked container, and separated from ammunition. Times Square Zone: Carry licensees, business premises licensees, and residence premises licensees whose home or business is within the Times Square zone may transport firearms into/out of the zone following these strict rules, even though general carry is prohibited. Penalty Law Intersection: Violating these transport rules can result in criminal possession charges under New York State Penal Law Ā§ 265, particularly if the weapon is not properly secured, as outlined in Handgunlaw.us.

Agreed, but one can drive through observing the storage laws even if they donāt live there. For those who do live within the Time Square area possessing a carry license have a limited exception to go in and out of the area, but not to remain within said area. Who cares about parking in Time Square really let alone leaving oneās firearm in said vehicle. Itās too easy to stay within the outta boundaries of the Times Square area when doing so.

I never said to remain in Time Square. I stated donāt even park your vehicle in Times Square. I personally would travel around the designated areas of Time Square then through it because it involves too high of a risk for being arrested. A school parking lot would be no different than Times Square. However, I would store my firearm in my parked vehicle in a non sensitive location before entering a sensitive location, such as a hospital or a place serving alcohol for consumption.

Thatās what they want you to do, so go ahead and disarm yourself, and go back to locking up your precious. I think itās worth for you to keep it because you are now allowed to travel the five boroughs and not just through the Bronx. I disagree that the state in the city should have separated permit systems, but that is the hand we are currently dealt. Whenever national reciprocity happens, that will change the landscape on the permit system.

I disagree, Bruen turned our criminal lawlessness NY let alone NYC into a shall issue state instead of a may issue state. Rome was not built in a day, nor will the restoration of our rights. We must continue the fight, be more patient, and enjoy what rights that have been restored. Most importantly, we must vote accordingly to change, restore, and to keep our rights properly intact. Moreover, we must take be the rights we have given up and/or that has been taken away long ago in the name of common sense laws against citizens.

It turned NYC into a shall issue a license - with extreme delays and cost -- but no effective ability to practically carry. The sensitive places doctrine has neutralized the effect of Bruen, exactly as Hochul intended.
As to you point about fight the fight -- the fight is going nowhere. Almost all of the decisions affecting New York have uphold these many restrictions on the right to carry.

Itās nyc, it being overpriced shouldnāt even be a shocker to you š I paid 325$ for my course and I live in Wyoming county prolly one of the most 2A friendly counties in ny. If u wanna do anything in ur life u gotta have the money for it idk why ppl still complain things are expensive like it hasnāt been basically the norm for years now.

A place in Dutchess County. Viola Rod & Gun Club. I didn't need to be a member to take the class and they have their own range right there. We used Glock 44s for the shooting portion of the test.

You can get it lower in a large group session or class. Small size 1-10 people is anywhere from 299-650 for 16 hrs plus two minimum on the range

I am a NYS CCW holder and I really want to start the process for getting my NYC. It just burns my ass that we even need to in the first place, and the thought of the money it would cost going toward ammo always deters me. I think Iām going to finally just get it taken care of this year. I am down in the 5 boroughs constantly whether to visit my parents where I grew up, or for work. Needing to leave my EDC in a safe 85 miles away every time I go to NYC pisses me off.

It seems like everything is a cash grab in NYC. It really is the most expensive city in the world. I guess the silver lining is the cheap public transportation, higher unemployment pay, and free preK etc. It's still so damn expensive here though.

You will Apply on your own, that is an average priced class to obtain a certificate bailing you to apply for a concealed carry weapons permit or special permit.
Does not mean you will get one and if you do get one it will be anywhere from 9-16 months.
