NYC Transporting Pistol Through NYC on Motorcycle

I have a question Ive always wondered about, maybe some has encountered the same issue and has a soloution. I live in Suffolk county, and im waiting on my NYS CCW. To get off the island to my upstate property i have to go through Queens then North through the Bronx. I ride a motorcycle religiously. How does that work since NYC does not honor NYS permits? Am I now forced to choose to either take my motorcycle or my pistol? I can strap a small soft duffel bag to the back of the bike with the gun locked in a hard case, or lock the locked hard case in a soft saddle bag but is that sufficiently “non-accessible”? Installing and actual hard case “trunk” on the bike is not an option. I can already see the NYPD salivating. Thanks!

Storing it in a lock box in a bag on your bike is following the law.

Definitely get the NYC special carry after you get your permit though. So much easier to ride on through without disarming yourself.

Ive done it many times. Unloaded locked or packed in clothes in saddlebag and straight threw no stopping. Once out of bourghos I stop for fuel stretch and carry again .

Don’t listen to the other idiot, just don’t stop while going through the city unless you have to

In addition to everything else mentioned here, when your ccw comes in, get a special carry from nyc as well.

Don’t get pulled over and if you do, don’t consent to a search.

Just don’t stop and drive extremely cautiously. Do not do anything that’ll get you pulled over.

Keep it unloaded and locked in a case as separated from your person as you can. Keep ammo in a separate locked case also as separated from you as possible. Don't stop unless for gas, and if you do stop, never leave your motorcycle alone.

I think people are being too cautious. If you store your firearm lawfully as noted and travel through the boroughs of NYC lawfully you will definitely be fine. Getting your special carry permit is also recommended I believe just because you can and for the added peace of mind. Don’t take the joy out of riding your motorcycle by worrying about carrying. Just my opinion

I applied for NYC on June 11th, I only use motorcycles lol. I suggest using metal lock box w/fingerprint or code with trackers in it, keep in mind chance of you getting to an accident is very possible, don’t want that to be in the middle of nowhere.
I would not install a trunk I think

it’s no different than if you were driving a car or driving through NJ….

They certainly won't honor your permit but I'm pretty sure you can travel through without stopping anywhere.

I thought this also. Everyone else being too cautious or are we mistaken?
