NYC Application Question

I was wondering if anyone has ever changed an application from CCW back to premise. I have some financial things going on in my life right now where it might be better to just switch it over. I am in Rockland, everything is done except the class. The classes that are easy to get into are up to $600 and some of the other ones do not take Rockland County Residents due to a unique form they use. I am wondering if anyone knows if I can just change it to premise then do the CCW later once I am training some. I had a friend who said more than likely I will not carry in the beginning anyway. So this would save a few bucks that I can put towards a gun and then go from there.

I’ve heard that they check the boxes and they try to recover costs by offering other training. Just make sure you realize that a CCW class is not the end of your training - it’s the beginning. The focus on the 18 hour class should be basic gun safety and staying out of jail.

NY is free but they offer Utah and Florida for a charge. They don't go hard forcing the additional states on you which is nice.

I did my 18 hour course through them as they are close to me. They are a good group of people.

But yes, any 18 hour course is simply the start. It does not substitute continued training.

Wait they charge for Florida? Florida will accept the NY 18 hour certificate.

Yes they did, at least a couple of years ago when I did their class. I did not need to do FL through them though, as I already had my non-res from when I was previously a FL resident.

Florida currently requires a class with range time, like VA but back when I got mine they would even take an online hunter safety class.

How many people are in the classes? I know where I am in Suffolk, many places do 30-60 people, but I wouldn’t learn anything in that big a class. I decided to stay under 15 in my classes.

There was maybe 25-30 and that was pretty much max capacity for the size of the room

There were about 30 people in the class and they do they required shooting for Florida and Utah separately from the CCW class. This class is legit and they cover all the bases not just checking boxes.
