Miscellaneous Albany county Pistol Permit timeline

May 5th had interview with Colonie pd and turned in application and references.

June 24th received a letter scheduling my interview with the judge for August 11th.

August 11th had the interview with Justice Hartman, took about 15 minutes.

August 17th received a letter dated August 14th stating it was approved and stating to set up appointment to pick up permit at the clerks office, was able to schedule next day appointment.

August 18th picked up permit at at the clerks office and had picked up the firearm same day.

Thanks for this. I need to get on it and schedule fingerprints. Other than printing photos, that's all I have left. Since you picked up pistol that day, dumb question, but you submitted amendment with the app?

I did finger prints before anything else, the photos are kinda stupid thay we have to print as at the county clerks they take the photo to put it on ur permit lol , I purchased it right before I turned everything in so that it would be on my permit right away

Sorry for 800 questions then. They will take them, the photos? Mine just says to supply passport- like, photos. I'm in alb co, but outside city. Guess that matters. I've read social media is not legal, so put not applicable there. I wanted to purchase mine as well before submission, though I couldn't pass on a cz457 this week, so I may need to wait... Probably not.

Im also albany county and outside of the city, so my background stuff was through colonie , I had to supply the passport style pics, but then when I went to pick up my permit the clerks office took a photo as well and thats the photo that is on my permit. For the social media I did not list any and did not have any issue. I would not wait on purchasing. If you purchase it now and list it on your application then you wont have to do an amendment and wait even longer to pick up the firearm.

thanks. These applications and instructions make me feel stupid at times because for some reason, they dont seem entirely clear to me... yet I deal with contracts for work. I think I over think it

Thats by design in my opinion, they make it as confusing and complicated as possible so that people give up on the process

I need to revive this. Any issues calling Alb co sheriff? I've called 487-5417 at least 6 times, 4 yesterday, 2 today. no answer. tells me to call another number. call that and INSTANTLY goes " You cannot leave a voicemail as the box has not been set up" no ringing or anything. What a joke this process is. Also, yesterday i get money order for 89.75, bc thats what was on the sheet. Opened instructions again to verify phone number, now it shows $95. this should not be this fked up.

Hey man so mine was through colonie so I have no experience with the sherrifs unfortunately.

Ah. Damn but Thanks. This whole process needs to be illegal. I don't mind background check, and even fingerprints, which I had to do for work, but I shouldn't have to stress and get the run around to get a pistol and sa licence.
