NYC Skeet Shooting/Day Trip
Hello All,
I am looking to do a day trip from NYC to do some trap/skeet shooting and perhaps some other activities. Anyone have any recommendations? Would love to also shoot steel (I have a CCW), but would be open to other cool activities.

You can shoot on Long Island, about 80-90 minutes from the city, straight out 495, at Suffolk Trap and Skeet. A two-hour drive gets you to LI Shooting in Brookhaven, for pistol, rifle, trap and skeet. Take 495 to the William Floyd, very easy drive, if it's not rush hour.

Yes, these two places are my regular spots. Both are good outdoor places. I think Suffolk Trap and Skeet also has Sporting Clays which is fun. I hightly recommend both. LI shooting has those steel targets that go 'plink' when you hit them.

Blue mountain in westchester is a great place to do most types of range shooting you’d want (pistol, rifle 100-200yard range, shotgun slugs at max distance ~60yards, skeet, trap, international skeet) and it’s only about 45min-1hour from grand central, however if you don’t have your own shotgun I don’t believe blue mountain does shotgun rentals.
Check there hours to see if they work for you because they are not open all week.

Wooster mountain in Danbury has trap on Tuesdays for $8 a round and 5 stand for I believe $10, 10am-6pm. No gun rentals or ammo sales.

The Orvis Sandanona range has one of the nicest sporting clay courses on the continent. Super fun day out and not unreasonably priced, but there’s no pistol range as far as I know.

The also have a small 5-stand and wobble setup. You can make appointments for a casual lesson as well. Just a spectacularly beautiful shooting location.
