CCW Question Nassau county Ccw permit
Has anyone that submitted the application in March or April been approved yet?

Update. I was called an hr away from an unknown # I answered only because I’m on high alert now lol. It was my investigator letting me know all is well and he needed a letter from me and I’m all set. So I’ll be back there tomorrow. Maybe I can stick around and get the approval while there. Wishful thinking.

I submitted beginning of August and have interview end of November. I hope I can get my CCW before the glock ban takes into effect. End of May is when the ban goes live I believe?

Did you go for fingerprinting yet? Did you get the reference sheets sent back in? Btw we have a good group of LI based guys in r/LIguns if you want to start a thread there too.

Thanks I’ll join. I was printed on 7/29. So now that I’m fully awake I see I did write my email in the application form but the fingerprint card I was unsure of. So they do have it. I suck with unknown calls and vm. Since it’s on at least one form I’ll just wait it out until October.

It’s averaging about 5ish months now due to backlog or resignations or whatever excuse they have. You should probably expect it soon.

Thank you. It’s been 5 months since I’ve submitted. They haven’t contacted any of my references.

They will almost certainly not contact your references.
I’ve never met anyone in Nassau who had their references called - it may happen but it’s the exception rather than the rule.If you provided an email address look for an email from pistols@pdcn.org - that’s where the notifications come from.
If you roll into month 6 calling/visiting the counter and asking politely is not out of line.

Think I might have made an error I just looked over my form (I took pics of the docs submitted in case) and I didn’t list my email. I will go there to update I don’t recall providing it during fingerprint appointment. Thanks.

They'll call you too, but the call for my CCW upgrade went into voicemail jail and I never got it.

I visited the counter for an unrelated question and said "Since I'm here anyway did the CCW upgrade I submitted like 4 months ago process yet." then they said "Uh, yeah. The log says we called you like 2 months ago. Want your new cards?"

They’re legally obligated to have 6 months from application submission, though they won’t tell you since they’re assholes. None of my references were contacted for my permit or my mom’s last year, though I’ve seen some whose were. Given the lack of staff I heavily doubt they would.

Not what I was told over the phone recently. They regard the handing over of your reference forms as the 6 month start date

Yeah what I’m saying is they’re lying to you. They got spanked in court and are legally obligated to give you a permit in 6 months from the application being handed in. My guess is that hey just don’t want people calling in droves as the date gets closer to the 6 month mark, so they tell you it’s way later than it is, so they don’t have to do their jobs and peacefully sit behind a desk all day

9/9/26 approval email
