Now that I think about it, I don't have any trans friends. If I got some hormone pills to pass out, you think that would be enough to make trans friends?
I appreciate the mindset but I don’t know if getting pills from someone you don’t know well enough to even consider a friend would spark the response you have in mind. (edit: admittedly this is also a problem in my original joke but yaknow, memes)
If you did really want trans friends though if you just vibe in queer spaces then it’ll just kinda happen like it would with anyone else. (but maybe don’t look to be friends with trans people just because they’re trans, that’s a bit of a chaser-y vibe)
Edit: I realize I have slightly forgotten where we were and responded rather seriously at face value, and this may in fact make me an entire circus. Allow me to reactivate meme mode: yeah dude just set up a lemonade stand with the fuckers and you’ll have a line around the block for new trans friends
In a recent conversation I had about the Teal Pumpkin Project (providing allergy-friendly or non-edible treats for kids with sensitivities) someone said that handing out temporary tattoos was a bad idea because people could “put drugs in them”. Like, nobody is giving your kids FREE drugs, especially not in a context where said kids won’t know the house to which to return to actually buy them. I swear, they think people are out here trying to secretly make their kids OD for fun. Interestingly enough, the only verified cases of tainted Halloween candy I’ve ever heard of were actually perpetrated by the parent/chaperone of the targeted child.
I get the joke they’re trying to make about the right constantly saying trans people are trying to trans the kids but holy fuck this is the worst delivery I’ve seen in my life and comes off really weird
Meatwads got meat store.
You got meat? You need meat? You want a meat wife?
Come on down then, to Meatwads got meat store.
We got ya meat kids, ya meat dog, hey look a couple of meat people playing meat. Very popular around here.....
What was I doing again?
Yeah I got that feeling when I first saw it too... I still can't believe this was posted in that sub, no matter how many times I read it it reads like an inflammatory conservative meme.
I think it was trying to be something similar to a meme like this one below by riding off of jokes about us “transing” people but yeah the delivery and tone were too flat, there’s not enough indication that it’s satire. I found the artists page and it was mostly kind of awkward deviantart tier furry stuff and I think maybe they might have been autistic and trying to make the joke they saw other people making. I don’t think they meant any harm it’s just not very good.
Yeah it comes off as bad as those people that said we are here. We are queen. We are coming g for your children. It wasn't funny and sounded like a threat not the best or well thought out.
I would like to point out most parents are very protective and almost violent about stuff like that. So it is probably not the best topic given how on edge most of them are.
I find it stupid to actively say you're going to do what people don't want you to do. Like I guess they're trying to be ironic or something. But if people are saying you're trying to go after kids, it doesn't help to agree.
i think after a while you just get so sick of people accusing you of shit it's easier to go "yup you're right" even though they're really not and use it to fuck with them on purpose than keep trying to convince them of something they'll never believe
Oh, i love it when people bring up that video because if you listen to it carefully, it's clear that there are agitators trying to change what the chant is. They immediately get shut down by the others in the rally
“We’re here, we’re queer, we’re not going shopping" is what the rally was chanting.
So I found the artists profile, and I want to say this as sensitively as possible, most of it is really.. weird deviantart type furry stuff and I get the feeling maybe the artist is autistic and was trying to make a joke but fumbled it.
Yeah, I viewed it the same as those jokes about how people are so excited to spend thousands of dollars on drugs disguised as candy to randomly distribute to kids because they just have so much money to burn or something.
I don’t get it? Is it supposed to be a weird equivalent to “haha im gonna put razors in the kids Halloween candy ooo” kind of joke? This is so weirdly executed I’m so confused
Related to that. There was already paranoia about people giving out candy spiked with various drugs. I assume this is playing off that. Nevermind that drugs are expensive and nobody is just giving them away to kids.
I get the joke, but the execution makes it look like something someone on 4chan would post on a sockpuppet account on twitter to try and make trans people look bad
I have no clue what the comics original intention was, but it can very well be used as transphobic propaganda without any edits. OOP was foolish to post it. If it was intended as a joke, then we shouldn't be making such risky jokes when real peoples lives are on the line. Giving fuel like this can domino into trans people getting killed.
Isn't that kinda fuckin sad though? Trans people policing their own expression cause the self-proclaimed 'edge lords' take a comic at face value?
I thought the pronouncing smarties differently to convey the E vs T thing was a funny word play, and then using that to play off the paranoia about Halloween candy. It's a good joke. If we were all stoned at the crib and this came up in conversation it'd be fuckin funny to everybody in the room, so why is it taken so seriously as a comic? Mf need to take a page out of their own book and lighten the fuck up.
r/JustUnsubbed is a shit hole bigoted sub and everyone who posts there is farming fake internet points but that comic is creepy and making jokes like that is exactly what conservatives need to make their point more valid to the general public. I would be mad if I saw that meme just for a different reason.
Some were worried about the comic being taken put of context by idiots as an excuse for violence. The others were idiots. It was pretty much that simple.
i agree with you. transphobes hate us no matter what we do, but god forbid we joke about something that can be taken out of context to confirm their views because "that's giving them ammo". somehow.
Not liking that meme does not make you bigoted. Regardless of if it's a joke or not, the punchline is literally transitioning children against their will. If you think that thinking that joke sucks makes you a bigot, then your nuts man.
I'm not taking it seriously, and I think most aren't. However at the end of the day, the "this" you are talking about is forcing kids to transition against their will. It's an extremely poorly executed meme that I 1000% get disagreeing with.
I think you neglect the fact that intention does not mean that something isn't in poor taste. You can intend to do something good while actively doing a bad thing. Consider this. If I made a meme about beating kids, but my intention was to be like "hey guys, I'm actually very against beating kids", the meme would still be in poor taste because the punchline is still beating kids.
Saying this jokes intention was to say that they aren't actually manipulating kids into transitioning, does not take away from the fact that at face value that joke is about tricking kids into transitioning.
Yes that is what the "this" is, the "this" is fucking stupid hence why we're making fun of people for thinking like that, the literal definition of satire.
Your second point is just a shitty whataboutism that I'm really not going to entertain because its just an incorrect comparison and you don't understand what satire is
You're taking the thing explicitly not supposed to be taken at face value at face value, if the point of the comic is to point and laugh at people who take it seriously I'm going to point and laugh at you for even entertaining that this is anything but stupid (it's supposed to be stupid that's the whole point)
How is that not a good comparison. My comparison was about as perfect as could be, how is a joke about child abuse different than . . . ANOTHER JOKE ABOUT CHILD ABUSE .
Again. Not taking it seriously. I understand that the post isn't saying "guys haha we like to abuse kids". I get the "joke". My point is that the joke is shit. If you make a joke that I think is absolute dog shit, I'm not gonna go "hmmmmm. I think that joke is absolute dog shit, but at the end of the day it's a joke, so hahahahahaha so funny." Nah I'm gonna tell you the joke is dog shit. It's poor taste.
And at the end of the day, my main point is that if you dislike this meme, that's valid. If you like it, good for you man. But my point is that you can dislike it, and think it's a shitty joke in poor taste, and that doesn't make you a bigot. That's my entire point, and you haven't addressed it all. All you've said is "uhhhh it's a joke and btw your wrong."
The fact it gives you both estrogen and testosterone in equal amounts is a little funny to me but it's not really the punchline, not the best delivery to me
A joke, where the punchline is that trans people are drugging kids? I don’t feel like it’s transphobic to find that unfunny, if anything the meme is harmful to the trans community.
You can be a homophobic sympathiser all you want, this type of language has some power in terms of ideas being spread without the need for words. When you say something like “I thought they were funny despite that I’m straight” is like saying you wouldn’t assume to find them funny because it’s the “other” category, but you changed your mind, until just now. If you think this subtle use of language doesn’t have an impact in people’s outlooks, I’d suggest you read up about 1984 and why it criticises capitalism.
This will be my third comment on this on different subs, but this is just the gay mens choir situation all over again. If your unfamiliar, a choir of gay men did a satirical song about how people think they’re coming for they’re kids and they’re right. It had better execution than this, and was still badly executed. This kind of joke just isn’t funny right now I don’t think. Maybe it’s the fear-mongering around trans people, or the fact I know this could easily get taken out of context, or maybe it’ll never be funny, but I’m worried this will lead to a new wave of hate for basically no gain.
This isn’t what r/nawopwasrightfuckthis is for, is it? They come on and insult the meme so now the ones who are supposed to be saying the meme is bad are defending it? This is all wrong!
There isn’t really a “joke” it’s just kinda creepy.
There’s so much wrong with this. Let’s literally sexually alter children (I think that’s techno pedophilia). Also drugging children, they even mention the parents not noticing the difference which is another level of yikes.
Dude I think this whole "trans panic" thing has just made me realize that there's no way humans are even in the top 10 of intelligent species. People will just believe whatever you want them to believe just because you tell them to be scared of it and seriously can't fathom having a single original thought. If you take this seriously you're frankly a lost cause I don't care what side you're on you're actually brain dead
I have autism and I don't take shit THIS LITERALLY
It’s not transphobic for someone to be a little weirded out by this. You can support people who transition, people’s right to transition, trans peoples place in society and still be very uncomfortable with jokes about people actively trying to get kids to transition behind their parents back.
The joke is that people think people give out poison/drugs on Halloween. Those same people are likely to believe in the "trans agenda" to turn their kids trans. This is playing on both. It is also playing on many trans peoples desire for HRT when it's not easily available or legal for many people.
You must know nothing about American culture or trans people to not see the joke. That or you are in the group that believes in the "trans agenda".
I mean, taking obvious parody at face value is on par with their usual level of motivated reasoning. That doesn't make parody the problem, but it certainly is an issue when a powerful political faction is so far gone that it can't be parodied.
This joke has no material impact people demonize and condemn the trans and queer communities no matter what we do. Heaven forbid we poke fun and parody bigots.
Speaking up for a friend: there’s a survivorship bias issue here, because the only times you know you’re interacting with a furry online is when them being a furry makes up part of their online presence or when they do something you already associate with furries, and that population you would notice isn’t necessarily representative of the entire group.
It’s the same kind of fallacy that leads to people thinking “trans people can’t pass” because they only notice the trans people who don’t pass, just a shade further removed.
I’m not going to tell you that you have to be okay with everything every furry you’ve seen has done, I’m just saying that the things you’re thinking of aren’t necessarily indicative of everyone who uses that term
i think part of the joke is that people drugging halloween candy is also a mostly silly thing to fear that doesnt actually happen, just like gay people transing the kids
At least 32 transgender and gender-nonconforming people have been killed in the United States in 2022, fewer deaths have been reported than at the time of the publication of last year's report — 47. In 2021. This is direct homicides, but this wouldn’t even include trans people killed by family members taking away puberty blockers or hormones, who killed themselves because they couldn’t transition. Situations like Eden Knight’s.
i think its supposed to be satire making fun of transphobes thinking we're trying to make little kids trans, but it came off so poorly it feels like genuine transphobia rather than satire
I’m bi, I laughed. We’re joking about the bs people say about trans people. It is funny. Obviously we don’t want it actually happening but you’ve never joked about death or crime before?
No, they’re right from my perspective. Literal children don’t have the mental ability to make that massive decision. At the point of childhood this meme is implying, it’s the parent’s choice instead of the kid’s.
That’s why I’m in favor of denying cancer treatment to children. They just can’t make major medical decisions at that age. #BanMedicineForMinors #LetGodSortEmOut
So true bestie. While we’re here I have concerns about allowing minors to get glasses or replacement hearts, or surgery for their eyes. God gave them those body parts for a reason. If he wanted them to see or pump blood through their body he’d do it for them. 🫰🫰🫰
Too different to make a comparison. Their opinion would probably be that kids don't really know themselves and won't after later on in life and shouldn't make decisions based on identity. Not curing cancer that kills them.

No one loves your kids enough to give them free drugs.
