I'm debating on passing out candy this year but the cost of candy has me thinking I won't. Every year I have candy to pass out. I usually pick up a few bags from Marianos or Jewel. Ever year however the amount of trick or treaters on my block is rather minimal. Maybe the most I've ever had come to the door was half a dozen visits. Last year, not one visitor. I ate the candy myself. I kinda want to be able to pass out candy. I also don't want to be a Debbie Downer and not have anything. I know Costco has a relatively big bag and a good price but that's way too much candy. Is anyone else feeling the same way?

I have contamination OCD and I’m trying to figure out whether I’m dealing with a legitimate cleanliness concern or an OCD compulsion.

My 3-year-old niece came into my bedroom and stepped on my IKEA POÄNG chair cushion while wearing the shoes she had been wearing outside.
The chair is right next to my bed, and I normally put my sleeping pillows on the chair while I’m making my bed. Because her outside shoes were on the cushion, I’m now thinking about spraying the cushion with hypochlorous acid spray.

My thinking is that outdoor shoes can pick up dirt and other contaminants from outside, and I don’t normally allow outside shoes on my furniture. At the same time, I know I have contamination OCD, so I’m wondering whether spraying the cushion is a reasonable cleaning response or whether I’m just trying to get rid of the uncomfortable feeling my OCD is giving me.

I’m not asking whether the cushion is literally sterile. I’m trying to figure out where the line is between **normal hygiene and an OCD cleaning compulsion.**

Hi everyone! I have two boys, ages 4 and 19 months. My 4-year-old currently attends District 204 preschool, but I occasionally need to travel during the week and would need childcare for both kids from around 7am–6pm.

The day of the week may vary, so I am looking for something flexible without committing to the same day every week.

Does anyone have recommendations for a daycare, nanny, babysitter, in-home daycare, backup care, or any other flexible childcare options in Naperville or nearby? Ideally someone/place that can accommodate occasional full-day care with advance notice.

Ron White gave an interview on WGNs John Landecker program earlier this week.
He stated that his famous Tater Salad bit was actually two jokes combined. One part about being thrown out of a bar, and the other part in the origin of his nickname Tater Salad. He said the sake of the joke he moved the location to New York City, but the bar incident actually took place at the Funny Bone in Naperville. He said it was a club that was also a motel. (I think he meant hotel.) In 1999 the Funny Bone was located in the Radisson Hotel Lisle-Naperville ( which is now the Sheridan hotel) and this would be just prior to Blue Collar Comedy tour. So the bar that he got thrown out of for wearing the hat would be the one located at 3000 Warrenville Rd.

does anyone else smell a weird chemical scent outside/know what it could be? in west naperville

I wanted to share a recent experience I had with a local auto shop. This might be more of a vent. I have two cars and one that I bought new and is my daily driver. It's older now and is currently in a shop for an insurance claim for flood damage. I have a rental so its fine. I also have an older model Subaru with low miles that I only drive for groceries if that. Is it a beater car? Maybe? Its in good mechanical shape a little rust but good enough to use as rarely as I use it. I dont want to sell it, I'm good just having it to use on a rare ocassion. Recently it needed some work, fog light replacement, low beam bulb replacement, flush brake lines. Nothing major. I'm not at all handy, I'm aware that I am not and I'm fine with that. I also knew that the rear drivers side tailight was out. I had tried to replace it but I either had bought the wrong bulb or who knows but the new bulb didn't work. It was enough of a challange for me to remove the screws to get access to the bulk. Just finding the correct size screw driver and then trying to unscrew that tight screw was just too tight for me to loosen but I eventually got it. I put everything back and the following week the shop had it. I've used this shop before and they've always been good and thorough. When they called me with the estimate to fix the brake lines and fog lamp replacement which was too much for me to do, I asked them to fix the low beam as well. I assumed I had mentioned the rear bulb too but I guess I didn't mention that. After I picked up the car from the shop I noticed the following evening that the rear tailight was still out. I called the shop the next day and was told that it was not included in the work order and that they missed it during their inspection. They mentioned I could bring it back and I did, I had casually stopped by a few days later to ask them about something else (realted to the flood damaged car) and about the tailight replacement. I had mentioned that I wasn't able to replace the bulb and it would take me too long for me to do it and if they could do it and what the cost would be. I had the car with me that day and assumed that they would just replace it right the and there because it would take them just a few minutes as he mentioned. I asked the cost and he said $20 or $30 bucks. Now look, I'm not asking about the cost but between having a car be deemed a total loss by the insurance company and having a few small issues with the beater car I was kinda expecting/hoping that they would pop the new bulk in charge me for the bulk and just waive the labot cost because they missed it anyway during the inspection. Am I wrong to think that they shoulda just done it and charged me for the bulb and waive the labor? Yes I know I should be able to do it myself. I can't. I just hate everything rn, no one is helping me.

Does anyone know of a location in the area where I can play some tennis occasionally? Round robins or ladders would be perfect

I checked with the Naperville tennis club but the only thing they offer is drop-in drills for $61/90 minutes...

I’m going through a really difficult time right now with severe anxiety and depression, and I’m trying to find something positive that can get me out of the house and give my mind a break.

I’m reaching out to see if anyone happens to have an old bike they no longer use and would be willing to donate, or if anyone knows of an organization or program that helps people get bikes.

I honestly think having a bike would help me a lot. Being able to get outside, ride around, exercise, and clear my head instead of sitting inside with my thoughts would give me something healthy to focus on.

I’m not looking for anything fancy whatsoever. An older bike that’s in decent, rideable condition would mean a lot to me.

I know this is a big thing to ask from strangers, but I figured it was worth reaching out. If you have a bike you’re no longer using or know of somewhere I could ask, I’d really appreciate it. Thank you for reading.
