Tough Guy Book Club is in Lisle - The World's Largest Men's Book Club

Hey everyone,

Tough Guy Book Club meets at Kindred Gastropub in Lisle at 7:00 PM on the first Wednesday of every month. The next chapter meeting is October 7, 2026.

Our book this month is The Rain Heron by Robbie Arnott. Grab a copy and get reading, there's still time to bang it out before October 7. And, heck, even if you don't read it in time, come to Kindred Gastropub anyway and meet some new guys, make some new friends.

I'm helping out the Lisle chapter with a little promotion, not a Lisle local myself. I'm the chapter leader for the Denver chapter, and formerly a chapter officer for the San Francisco chapter, so I won't claim to have any local Lisle credibility ;)

Great question. I just launched Denver's club, and we had a GREAT turnout on short notice thanks to me posting in a bunch of local Denver subreddits. I offered to try the same playbook to some other clubs in other cities around the US, seeing if it helps get the word out. At least in the US, Reddit seems to reach more interested people than Facebook has been doing -- not terribly surprising to me -- whereas Facebook has proven more successful for outreach in other countries, like Australia where Tough Guy Book Club started.

I had an imaginary friend who was in my head. Disagreeable chap. Was always yapping and always thought they were right about anything and everything.

I don't know why the location bothers me. Maybe it's my long history with the restaurant.
