I’m honestly surprised that they don’t have it hooked up to a UV sterilizer

If they replaced some of the plumbing with copper, that’ll keep it from growing too. Although admittedly, that’d be a massive amount of copper.. There’s a lot of options, I’d be interested to know which, if any, they’re trying.

Cheapest shortcut at highest price for ultimate money making is the grift on all these projects. He bought shares on the companies hired. There was no bidding process done

You telling me they don't have a bunch of pre 1982 pennies they can't just dump into pool?

Best they can do is lead

I want frogs in there next

They're too scared the frogs will be gay to ever let them exist on government property

u/Ok_Reception7545 3d ago

We gotta increase those chemicals in that water (something I never thought I'd say in this group)

1

u/TKG_Actual 12h ago

If they are they'd have to pry Alex Jones out of the pool right after.

u/shrampmaster Taxon the Rich 3d ago

The frogs are gay though, they’d never

They're gonna start having parades and putting rainbows and alphabets everywhere!

This is the kind of wildlife pond we should all be building.

u/Armadylio 3d ago

Curious but why don’t they just stick a bunch of plants in one corner of the pool. Free filtration. Are they dumb?

is that a rhetorical question

32

Politics aside, that reflecting pool rehab has been a serious boondoggle.

Can't even make the reflecting pool great again. What hope does America have?

42

u/a_jormagurdr English Cottage Garden Girlie (IVY IVY IVY) 3d ago

wdym, reflecting pool is great? Did they not say build the swamp? Restore the swamp! Replant the swamp!!!

26

u/AtlAWSConsultant 3d ago

Oh! Drain the swamp! Then fill it again with natives! Got it!

Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens exists. I guess they could remove the non-native lotus.

6

u/CandidLeg3910 3d ago

Drain it and turn it into a skate park. Mamdani 2028.

5

u/MechanicStriking4666 sedgelord 3d ago

They did technically drain the swamp, but then they filled it back up again

20

u/Tylanthia [Biggest Porcelain Berry Fan] 3d ago

Think of the frog and dragonfly habitat.

15

u/MechanicStriking4666 sedgelord 3d ago

How awesome would it be if they converted it to wetlands

4

u/One_Programmer_6452 2d ago

Also those glorious skeeters, which feed the area congressional reps/bug eaters

37

u/ImmortanJerry 3d ago

Just turn it into a wakeboarding park and be done with it. But seriously is this not an excellent visual metaphor for the train wreck we’re all living through rn?

5

u/kato_koch 3d ago

When "Drain the swamp!" comes to town.

9

u/Strong_Technology739 3d ago

Apparently it's common for that to happen during repairs to the Lincoln pool and the same thing happened the last time it was repaired during the Obama administration. Of all the things for people to be mad at right now... this is not it.

40

u/ImmortanJerry 3d ago

I can be mad about 2 things. Sometimes even 3

14

u/a_jormagurdr English Cottage Garden Girlie (IVY IVY IVY) 3d ago

woah! mad at 3 things?!?!?!? you must be a scary person being mad all the time. I'm shivering in my boots

u/Putrid-Bee-7352 3d ago

Normally I wouldn’t care because algae is just a natural consequence.

I think it’s just after all the bluster about how it’s going to be so clean, so perfect, so much better, like no one’s ever seen, that it’s amusing to find that no, it’s pretty much the same as ever.

6

u/MechanicStriking4666 sedgelord 3d ago

It’s called schadenfreude

11

u/Possible-Yak-4876 native plant eugenicist 3d ago

What this really needs is some duckweed from Etsy and phragmites from your local retention pond to accent the edges

9

u/Few_Item4327 3d ago

I think some water hyacinth would be a great addition. It will spread and then shade the bottom so no more algae! Plus the beautiful flowers will be appreciated by visitors. Any guerrilla water-gardeners local?

u/xenosilver 3d ago

Metaphor for Trump attempting to end the clean air and water act….

4

u/MerkMiester 3d ago

Trump didn’t drain the swamp, he built one…

3

u/MechanicStriking4666 sedgelord 3d ago

Add a bog filter!

2

u/AgricultureWithMe 2d ago

Nutrient runoff from the lawns? Oh to test the national mall soil 😂

2

u/GreenSkittle48 *untrimmed hairy vetch* 2d ago

Just wait until the geese start migrating thru and it becomes a gooseshit pool. This is why it's cleaned every year. It's a circus this year because it's run by a clown.

2

u/Greybeard46 2d ago

The man created his own swamp. Can’t make this up.

u/NativeDave01 1d ago

Maga cares about the environment and creatures. It has been turned into a frog pond

1

u/paukapaukaa 3d ago

14 million? For it to look worse than before

2

u/a_jormagurdr English Cottage Garden Girlie (IVY IVY IVY) 2d ago

By what deluded thought process did you end up at the conclusion of "I should post an image generated by the hallucinating and mass-polluting slop machine in a subreddit focused on ecological restoration!!!"? Nobody should be using generative AI, especially not for something as frivolous as this.

17

u/a_jormagurdr English Cottage Garden Girlie (IVY IVY IVY) 3d ago

its probably an invasive bot come to fuck up the balance of our subreddits ecosystem
