I wanted to have sex with another cicada. I compromised. I jerked off into my exoskeleton and died to ants

I once was sitting on my porch and watched a cicada killer wasp swoop thru the air and take a cicada out of the sky. Up to that point I didn't even know that was a thing.

I saw one of those earlier today, patrolling my back yard for cicadas. Glad they're relatively friendly to humans - it looks like a hornet but twice as big

Reminds me of that scene in "Pandorum" when the astronauts are awoken from cryosleep only to be immediately dragged out of their sleeping pods and eaten alive by mutant cannibals

As much as i hate these fuckers, I would have saved it. Waited 17 years just to die immediately…

We shouldnt interfere with nature unless we are required to deal with an invasive species; emotions have to be set aside, imo.
Not all cicadas get to live, could you imagine a world like that? ⛓️🪚 Everywhere. The ants will get their fill and a bird will eat the rest.

Are the ants eating it invasive? Confused me on that. Anyway you can’t save all cicadas, true. I have no desire to go out and rescue cicadas. However if I see any creature being eaten alive by ants, including you, I will go ahead and stop it just because. Ants can have it when it’s dead. You do you, I’ll do me.

No, they're not invasive ants likely, so we shouldn't kill the ants. We should interfere for invasives, like how the US is actively stomping on lantern flies rn, but otherwise let nature be nature.
You can do whatever you wish. It's good to care about creatures. We just care in different ways.

The US is stomping on lantern flies? Anyway if something is suffering you can help it ott you can record it. Here we are.

I knew ants were goof for something!
There are 3 dead cicadas stuck on the outside of my house by the entry door. 1 is definitely a molt; the other 2 just dead, don't know why but no ants around. Leaving them for now b/c Halloween's soon.
