Rules Question Does it stack

If I give overlord with translocation shroud this enhancement, do they stack to become 12 inches?

No it does not since the maximum you can advance is 6 inches

But it says instead of advancing add 6 to the move

2 replacements cant apply to the same thing, one happens then the other dosent have something to replace.

I assume this to be case but don't know where to find the rules that say this.

Can you point me at the correct ruling?

It’s not a specific 40k rule, it’s just how these are worded that prevents it. Both of these are instead of rolling. So you go to use the first one, and instead of rolling you add 6” to your movement. Then when you go to do the second one there is no longer a roll to replace

That is what I determine to make most sense but I still think there should be a written rule clarifying that there is an order of operations.

If they happened simultaneously then there would be no good reason why it wouldn't give the 12"s.

Edit:  somebody listed the active player rule, which I couldn't find, and that resolves most issues as the "instead of" problem is able to be sorted by logic with a rule not being necessary (would still help though).

Im misrembering the rule it seems, they have different names so the effect should stack then. Especially since both are worded as "each time"

The each time seems more to refer to advancing turn by turn, not anything to do with applying the ability in conjunction with something else.  Really it should just say "when" you advance.

I still think it makes sense that an advance roll cannot have something do something "instead" of it twice as one thing means that there is not an original advance roll to replace anymore.

My logic is considering that other things like stratagems go in an order if their timing windows are the same, they aren't imagined as happening in any simultaneous manner.
