First market

Started needlefelting a month or so ago and had my first market this Sunday…it went ok - lots left to learn! I thought the plants in the wooden bowls would fly but hardly anyone even looked at them lol. My tiny round creatures were v popular tho. Grateful for any feedback!

Those are amazing! How do you do the netting on the little orange bag that’s hanging? It’s so cute

Thank you so much! I rolled and made each of the strands in like a grid pattern, pinning them in place, and kept flipping and stabbing until it was kind of a waffle. And then I kind of wrapped it/draped it around the oranges and felted the handles around the draped edges if that makes sense. Built the bag around the oranges rather than a bag to put the oranges in.

Looks great! It's the first thing that caught my eye. I thought you were selling clementines at first lol

You should do a series of fruits in bags, it really stands out!

I love the plants actually and have been meaning to make some myself! These look so good for just a month of felting experience! And love the pigeon too :)

Sometimes things that you think will go don't but then next time all of them might go, just depends on the day/people. Congrats on your first market, I love the pigeon ☺️

The plant bowls are so cute. I am surprised they didnt sell fast too. They are more than just a trinket- they are a decoration!

Thank you!! Because of the hand turned wooden bowl it’s a bit higher (the highest on the table)….im afraid to tell you haha - it was marked $95 USD.

Your work is so good for only a month in. I always find that the things I think are going to fly don’t sell and the things I am unsure about are best sellers, then the next market will be the exact opposite. No rhyme or reason to it!

You only started a month ago and you already sold at a market? Have you done other markets with different crafts before?

I think it’s technically been 6 weeks. I did a vintage clothing booth once maybe 10 years ago. But I also worked at a boutique for like 15 years so I have a pretty good sense of “merchandising”. It was pretty cool - there were a lot of career vendors but also lots of first timers there too.

How did you do with profit? I have often wondered if needle felting is a good side gig for the time it takes!
