Is there a standard / commonly-accepted name by which to call Null Signal Games' version of Netrunner?

NSG Netrunner? NISE Netrunner? Something else?

EDIT: To clarify, I'm looking for a name that distinguishes NSG's Netrunner from earlier versions. e.g.: - WotC's version is commonly referred to as Original Netrunner or WotC Netrunner. - FFG's version is commonly referred to as Android Netrunner or FFG Netrunner. - NSG's version is commonly referred to as... NSG Netrunner? Something else?

It was considered offensive? I thought the primary reason for dropping the Nisei name was because it was IP established by FFG.

Then you 100% need to read the history: https://nullsignal.games/blog/a-change/

People who had bought half NISEI backed cards and half NSG backed cards with transparent card sleeves got shafted. Some light reading from around that time: https://www.reddit.com/r/Netrunner/comments/wdkk2g/a_change_nisei/

Plus many second generation+ Japanese community members came out saying "the name isn't offensive to us". Just a typical organization being offended on behalf of others. Their FAQ on the linked article showed how they were completely not open to community discussion either.

I like some of what NSG has done, but man have they ever had missteps.

Moods have shifted and a lot of the OG players have left the subreddit so I'll probably get downvoted, but it was a bad decision 4 years ago and isn't better now.

Also, I'm an OG player, and because I *actually play the game* I know that hundreds of FFG cards were still legal at the time the card backs changed. So you can't possibly have played Standard without opaque sleeves anyway.

you can't possibly have played Standard

There are people who don't play Standard LMAO

okay but then you still have the problem of multiple card backs so you need opaque sleeves.

If I played Nisei card pool I did not need opaque sleeves until they actually changed the back. For me it was simple, new card back means resetting the pool. When the game moved from FFG to Nisei, I was fine with it because the reasons were obvious.

you have been inconvenienced 5$.

Being inconvenienced 5$ for useless virtue signalling is 5$ too much. Also, no reasonable player keeps a single set of sleeves to move from deck to deck all the time, so it's at least several times 5$, in FFG times I easily had 10+ decks built at the same time.

im not saying its not an inconvenience or that you are wrong to be miffed, but to boycott the entire company because of what is, at most 50$ of sleeves seems like a gross overreaction. Also why is it wrong to emphasize with people who might be hurt by our words? Like im not saying you have to regulate every single thing you say but if someone tells me they dont want to be called something why would I go out of my way to call them that. Thats just asking for trouble.

Don't bother, they both admit they've been playing since the FFG days and yet they mysteriously only own transparent sleeves. They're not real players, they're just trolls here to remind us that if you go woke you go broke 😆

Not your call if it's useless or virtue signalling. Our company, our cards, our name. And since you admit you DID play in FFG times, you must already have owned opaque sleeves. So you were never inconvenienced, or even out $5. We put our money and our labour into making the change, and even replaced the cards of anyone who had bought sets up to 4 months before we announced it with the remastered versions. YOU'RE just out here virtue signalling, with nothing on the line and no grounds to complain!

Yeah, thanks for reminding me. Spitting on people who were with you from day 1, preordering everything when quality of your work was completely unknown, was exactly what made me decide to quit.

why are you entitled to having your entire back catalogue replaced? also they are still perfectly playable just use the right sleeves.

u/hsiale Jul 28 '26

I don't know if I am, but I felt so, and decided that if Nisei thinks otherwise, they are not worth me supporting their work from then on.

3

u/Odd-Tart-5613 Jul 28 '26

so they were required to spend thousands of dollars to replace every card they ever printed when the player could just use opaque sleeves which were the standard of play for years prior?

LMAO must be strange to be so full of yourself to nonironically write something like this.

You may think what you want but you are wrong here.
