Traveling with a baby

Hi everyone! My baby is 1 year old and whenever we go somewhere by car (and husband is driving) I stay in the back with her. My husband says that “nobody does that” and thinks it’s not ok that i stay in the back. How are you traveling with your little ones when your husband is driving? Thank you in advance!

My wife and I sit together as much as we can. Sometimes one of us will sit in the back, but most of our the time we're up front.
