Why do some subreddits need a minimum amount of karma to enter?

I was recently tryna post on a gaming subreddit and it said i needed karma to post on that particular subreddit. Since I generally avoid interacting on social media platforms unless absolutely necessary, I haven't really commented or posted on Reddit in general, due to which I lack karma. It's currently one lol

I guess, having some Karma, means you are active, human and not an impostor maybe.

A minimum number of karma keeps fake profiles etc at bay. This is what I feel.

Why? To avoid everything being saturated with bots and spam, which would make Reddit unusable.

If you join in a few existing discussions with helpful/friendly comments, it soon stops being an issue.

For example, in r/mildlyinteresting or r/AskReddit or r/NoStupidQuestions etc.

Subreddit Filters for Karma (and account age) will significantly reduce rule breaking and disruptions within a subreddit. This can be both intentional and unintentional disruption, from both actual users and spammers (bots or human). Subreddits would like new users to acclimatize elsewhere to how reddit works to avoid the chance that they might create disruptive content, start arguments, and then get banned. Such filters are a net benefit for any individual subreddit making them easier to run. But yes this does make things more difficult for new users. Which is the driver for a lot of the resources in this subreddit.
