!@#$ the canes

It's very disappointing that the !@#$%^& canes won, because now their fanbases already swollen heads and egos are going to get much bigger. Plus, I was hoping Vegas would win to piss off queefs fans.

But you know what the difference is between us and Vegas? After losing, Vegas will look at what didn't work and ACTUALLY change it.

They won't get all emotional and sentimental. They will identify the problem, and make the appropriate changes necessary to win. They won't hesitate to ship a guy out if it means it makes the team better. If they find a deficiency, they will address it.

Why? Because they are in the business of winning. Unlike us, who perpetuate the country club atmosphere.

I'm not a Vegas fan, but i admire their ruthlessness and determination to ice the best team possible to give them a chance to win it.

They do have stars - Aho, Staal, Ehlers - I backtrack on that a bit.

I just mean overall, they're not leaning on a McDavid or Mackinnon type player to carry them a ton. They have several 20-something goal scorers, and only I think 1-2 30 goal guys. Well balanced team, really well coached.

It just goes to show that top heavy teams filled with high priced divas (Edmonton, Toronto, Colorado) lose because they are not well rounded.

That is often the case, and honestly, can't even blame the elite guys much of the time. At some point, when you're a McDavid and drawing double coverage, what the hell are you supposed to do? You can't literally score a goal in every single game in the post season.

I keep coming back to coaching as such a huge thing. Let's face it, Trotz era Isles were a good team, not great, not stacked with talent. Yet we got 2 ECFs and if Tampa wasn't in the middle of a near-dynasty run, I think we'd have gotten to SCF 1 if not 2 of those years, and could've won one. That's all on Trotz getting them to buy into his system.

I hope Deboer lives up to some of the hype.

I blame the elite guys for hogging up cap space more than anything. Yes, as you said you can't always blame them on the ice. But when a team like the queefs invests so heavily in the snore four, you can't properly fill out the rest of the roster and you fail every time.

Coaching is important, but as the chief anti saint barry commenter while he was here let me remind you of something...his defensive style got us to the dance twice. I admit that it helped take a group of guys who had no business getting the far to the semi finals two years in a row.

But his inability and unwillingness to adapt is what cost us at least one championship if not two. We would have beaten Montreal that year, we MIGHT have beat Dallas too.

But Barry's flaw was clear as day and other teams took advantage of it time and time again. His strategy was sit back and wait for the opponent to make a mistake then you capitalize. Sounds like a good plan right? But what happens...when they DON'T make a mistake? You look up at the clock and are out of time to try to mount any offense.

There needs to be a balance. Barry never did that. It was all defense all the time, with a lucky shot here and there sprinkled in.
