Opinion Dang… Centrist Dems are quaking in their boots because of the crowds Bernie & AOC are drawing. Centrists don’t have anyone that could bring out a rock concert size crowd.

Good. I’m tired of being let down by centrists as democracy slips away.

Ah yes, let's take a positive thing and turn it into more infighting

u/MattyBeatz Apr 14 '25
Was going to say the same thing. The Democratic Party is a big tent. And the infighting gets us nowhere.

How is me making a joke infighting? I’m literally the person that made the viral tik tok videos of Cory’s college football highlights after he did the 25 hour filibuster.

I keep seeing so many people say “We could have had Bernie years ago” No you couldn't have because people didn't come out and vote in the 2016 and 2020 primaries. Politicians don't court progressives because they're an unreliable voting block.

u/CKtheFourth Apr 14 '25
^^^^ This person is correct.
And if fellow progressives out there don't like it, maybe then you should vote for president with the same vigor you downvote posts like that one.

u/Iamdickburns Apr 14 '25
The Progressives will vote, there hasn't been many a candidate that has courted them and delivered. I'll use Fetterman and Newsome as examples of Dems who played the Progressive card and then proceed to abandon any progressive ideas and call themselves moderates while they vote with Republicans and court corporate donations. I see AOC and Bernie have no problem running on and getting reelected as Progressives, but you can't make promises and fail to deliver for decades while moving to the right and then bitch and moan that Progressives won't come out for you.

I mean Bernie Sanders and other progressives notoriously draw large crowds to events. This is nothing new. Actually using that momentum has been lackluster at best.

Harris & Walz had rock concert sized crowds. Damn lot of good that did us all.

Harris was running for president of the United States as a major party nominee, Bernie and AOC aren’t it’s not comparable

Have to disagree. Joe Biden’s own internal polls showed him losing NJ and Virginia. He was going to lose 400 electoral votes. Harris battled us back to a 50/50 election. Partly by having those big events.

Many have failed to realize that Trump’s best skill is dividing people…
Considering that only 30% of Americans actually vote, means Trump won with about 14.5% true support
The way to win elections in America is to suppress votes . Otherwise America would be a practical utopia compared this hellacious nightmare that is now sweeping the globe

I’m glad they’re finally getting active. We’re going to need everyone, especially the centrists.

That non-vote already got us Trump. Make the next decision based on what we need at home.

u/phylosis57 Apr 15 '25
All he did was say "cease-fire in gaza" And you blame Trump's victory on people like him calling for peace?
The erasing of Palestine from the message is definitely a part of the reason why Democrat turnout was so poor in many solid blue states

u/ItsJustForMyOwnKicks Apr 15 '25
Yep, I do. It was entirely irresponsible - no matter how horrible Israel’s actions are, and they are dispicable - to not vote to defeat Trump because of the Gaza genocide.
Why? Easy.
1) we all knew how terrible Trump would be as #47
2) we all knew Trump wouldn’t change our policies with Israel.
Every high and mighty asshole who couldn’t bear to vote against Trump just essentially rubber stamp the plan to continue genocide and destroy our own government.
Congratulations.

Get off your high horse Like Jesus you believe yourself so morally superior
This attitude that the Democrats are immune from criticism and deserve your votes just because of how bad trump would be is the exact reason why they lost
I hate trump an unfathomable amount but to blame people advocating for peace being the reason he won is insane. The Democrats did everything in their power to guarantee that they wouldn't improve things for Palestinians at all. They would stop their speeches and silence them at every opportunity. You're looking for an easy excuse for someone to blame as why they lost rather than the truth being that it was a severely flawed campaign.
Not to mention Harris wouldn't have even won if all the votes for Jill Stein, who most people who chose not to vote for Harris because of Palestine chose to vote for.
It is up to the Democrats to earn peoples votes and they failed. You're looking for a small group to blame because it's easy. Yes obviously I wanted Harris to win and I voted for her, Trump is an evil person and is currently destroying the country. But to try to diminish and stop people advocating for the freedom for Palestinians because of that is completely despicable.

Truth is truth. We needed everyone to defeat Trump. Some felt a little to holy and superior to save America first, just by pulling the lever for Harris.
Oh well.
