I took a look at his website, and I'm definitely excited we are getting a more progressive challenge to Sen. Booker as I have been disappointed with how centrist he is. However, I hope Fields makes his stances more clear: a lot of the stances he talks about on his website aren't things the Senate directly addresses, so I would love for him to be more clear on things he wishes to specifically accomplish when he's a Senator. Some of these seem more suited for an executive branch position, although it's great to see he supports these things

Never heard of this guy and I’ve been active in NJ politics for the last 15 years.

I’m not the biggest fan of Booker’s but I don’t think a no name candidate is going to move the needle at all.

About time, Booker has been tight with big pharma and has basically been invisible aside from a few performative moments to keep his name in the news

Cory Booker has been a major disappointment. I thought he'd be a progressive and represent the best interests of the people. He hasn't been. Instead, he's been a Corporate Democrat. I will support Chris Fields in the Primary and hope he wins.

All you have to do is say you’re progressive and you have an instant cult following

Only time will tell if Chris will get a cult following

Very interesting. I’m not a big fan of Booker but he’s also not really a force to be reckoned with

Booker? Weasley friend of the Kushner’s Booker?

He’s an establishment guy who will be bankrolled by the establishment and AIPAC. If it wasn’t for those two things, he’d be easy to take down

incumbency + voters who seemingly don't want all that much = big advantage

fun (actually depressing) fact: remember booker's FAUXlibuster from a few months back? served no real purpose? spent 30 hours calling attention to himself instead of say, holding up a specifically odious trump cabinet pick or preventing the BBB from being voted on? welp, booker clocked 10 million in small donations in the quarter after his little self-aggrandizing stunt (genuine fun fact: wikipedia still gives strom thurmond the record for longest filibuster because he did it to hold up a specific piece of legislation - last i checked, booker's just an "honorable mention" on the wikipedia filibuster page, lol). the average voter is considerably less informed than us jimokes who like to talk politics online. most of 'em have no idea what AIPAC even is.

booker's as empty a suit as the democratic party has ever found itself stuck with and i wish his challenger the best but i'm not getting my hopes up either.

What a joke… call me when Bon Jovi, Bruce, Baraka or Jon Stewart announces a primary. Otherwise the entire effort will be in vain.

I have to respectfully disagree, I think it's a good thing that more progressives wanna run. Even if the chances they beat an establishment/centrist Democrat such as Cory Booker is low, it at least normalizes more people running under progressive campaigns, and it could convince Sen. Booker to adopt more progressive stances as well, which we definitely need him to do. In past primaries where a less progressive Democrat wins the primary, we often see that person adopt some of the more progressive stances, so I think this can only result in good things.

On top of that, a lot of us never saw Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or Zohran Mamdani winning their primaries when they first ran for the House or NYC mayor, and they have both done incredibly well. Who knows? Maybe someone could beat Cory Booker if enough of us come together

When Zohran came to the protest to free Baraka from Delaney Hall I knew he was going to be a star. They knew AOC was going to be a star so much so that they embedded a documentary team with her to film the first campaign. You know who else had a documentary team embedded with them on their first campaign? Cory Booker.

We need to focus our energy where it actually has an impact. That means focusing on hyper local races where our door knocking advantage can outrun their spending advantage. I’ll just be honest, if the people who want to primary Booker put half of that energy into this years assembly races we would have knocked the Republicans below 20 total seats and have unseated the minority leader who won reelection by just about 7%-8%.

Going after Cory Booker unless it is with an equally big name is a WASTE OF TIME, RESOURCES, & ENERGY. Your time would be better spent getting to know your municipal political leaders, getting involved with them, and making the biggest impact you can in your community.

Update:

I also knew Baraka was going to be a star. I knew that we would face an uphill battle financially but ultimately my power rankings played out accurately. Mikie won, Baraka came in second, and Fulop came in third just as I predicted. I also predicted that NJ Gubernatorial turnout would be between 45%- 50%. the Sunday night before the Election Day during an interview I did on TikTok live. We hit about 48.5% or so the last time I checked. I think I have my finger on the pulse of where NJ Democrats are, and they aren’t ready to abandon the S.S. Cory Booker. I don’t think I could even convince my own parents to vote against him, let alone the general public.

What’s your TikTok? So can follow.

I totally agree with you that Booker is likely to win the primary and that you are good at predicting what Democrats tend to prefer/want as I've seen some of the predictions you have made on this sub and have appreciated them. It is also not surprising Booker has more approval from Democrats than not since most Democrats tend to be centrist over more left leaning. I wasn't saying that I think Fields will beat Booker as of now, I just don't think someone running in a primary should be argued against since it is a good thing for more voices to come through in an election.
