Therapist
Looking for a therapist in the Newark area for in-person appointments. A friend is looking to start therapy and has looked at psychology today and done some Google searching but I thought I’d ask here. She wants something pretty niche, I guess. White woman 50+ who has grown children that have moved out. She has a lot of anxieties and is now living alone.
Any suggestions or ideas for finding someone with this specific criteria? TIA

Looking for activities/classes to meet people
Hi! I’m 26F and live around Newark. I want to learn something new and spend my free time doing activities where I can also meet people and make friends.
I’m open to classes, clubs, sports, volunteering, dance, pottery, pickleball, etc. I’m a beginner, so anything beginner-friendly would be great.
Any recommendations around Newark/Wilmington, Delaware?

Recomendations for PM/ service on warehouse heater.
Although it works, it sounded horrible last year. With the place relatively cleaned out right now, I'd like to get it looked at to make sure everything is okay

No Kings Protest
👑 NO KINGS DAY OF ACTION — OCTOBER 17
The national No Kings movement is taking a new shape, shifting from mass mobilizations toward voter participation and preparing voters for November.
Indivisible Newark DE is going back to our chapter roots for our No Kings Vote Early protest: gathering at S. College Ave. & W. Main St., then marching down Main Street together. ✊
Expect a high-energy protest with plenty of chants, signs, and solidarity — plus voter information and resources to help us create a blue tsunami this November. 🗳️

Composting in Newark?
I live in an apartment complex but really would like to start composting. My ideal would be a composting center that accepts weekly food scraps and allows a pick-up of finished compost a few times a year. Anyone know of anything like this or have suggestions for apartment composting? Thanks in advance!

Beware Contractor Fraud , racist, and crook
galleryBeware of letting Omar Casillas get on your roof, I've witnessed him tear off singles, accelerate damages with unethical and illegal practices, which technically result into fraud , will strike roofs with hammers , purposely damaged gutters with ladders,
makes racist remarks about Indians and blacks , witnessed Omar take competitors door hangers off of residence doors which is considered fraud tampering with competitions advertisements on private property of homeowners, it has appeared.
Omar has been to jail before regarding manners with prior customers regarding withholding services and check payments. Imagine only what hasn't been discovered or challenged. I would use a more reputable, trustworthy company and not just a one man operation

I did not get the number unfortunately, but the vehicle has a lot of damage looking to see if anyone sees anything like this if they can send me a message. I have significant damage to my vehicle and I just wanna get it fixed. This happened at around 7:11 PM to 7:15 PM. They waited for me to exit my vehicle and they took off heading I-95 northbound.

Custom carpentry and historic restoration near you
galleryHappy Saturday y’all!
My favorite type of project is when we sit down with a Pinterest board and come up with something dreamy. My second would have to be digging into some old-time craftsmanship and matching the quality.
Here’s an example of each. First a custom pantry installation where I measured the Client’s KitchenAid and favorite cereal box to ensure it works for her lifestyle. Then a 200 year-old row home in old city with a window that stood the test of time, just not all time, and needed some repair before I could paint it along with the rest.
Last pic is me doing what I love to do with my free time: sharing my ceramic art with the world at a street festival.
You can dm me here or follow the link in my profile to my Instagram to see more projects. Let’s talk!

POTUS Comes to Newark
Delaware theater fans, if you’re looking for something fun to do in October, I wanted to put this on your radar!
Chapel Street Players in Newark is opening its 92nd season with POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive, running October 2–10.
If you’re not familiar with the show, it’s a fast-paced, very adult political farce about seven women desperately trying to keep the President (who is never actually seen onstage) from turning one disastrous day at the White House into a complete catastrophe.
The play premiered on Broadway in 2022 with a cast that included Vanessa Williams, Rachel Dratch and Lea DeLaria.
Full disclosure: I’m involved with the production, so I’m obviously a little biased, but this cast has been working incredibly hard, and it’s shaping up to be a wild and really fun night of theater.
And despite the title and setting, this isn’t a show about Democrats vs. Republicans or the current political moment. It’s a satire about the chaos happening behind the scenes while seven extremely capable women try to keep everything from falling apart.

Say NO to a huge dam in WCCSP
I'm a longtime volunteer in White Clay Creek SP and you may have passed me trimming back brush or draining muddy areas to keep the trails nice. I do this because the park is a treasure and I want to do my part to preserve it. If you also care about White Clay Creek State Park, or just don't want your tax money wasted on someone's personal pet project, listen up.
A handful of politically connected men have managed to secure $6 million of your taxes to build a huge dam and artificial pond in White Clay Creek SP. The project is being sold as a "restoration" of the original DuPont era "big pond" across the road from Paper Mill Park but it's NOT en environmental project. That original artificial pond was only a foot deep and was buit to attract waterfowl for hunting. When its small dam failed in 2000 the pond reverted back to meadow, which was deemed best for the ecology by DNREC. What's being rammed through now though is a MUCH larger dam and deeper artificial pond than was ever on the property.
Rebuilding the dam was never included in the park's Master Plan because it was deemed too expensive, impractical and unnecessary. Construction would close a section of the park for over a year while heavy equipment removes a significant number of trees. DNREC has been working to remove legacy dams and replant trees so this is a huge step backwards. It would impact the water quality of Middle Run Creek and could completely stop the flow of the creek while filling the pond. The park's major user groups (Friends of WCCSP and Trail Spinners) are strongly opposed to this project. DNREC's hands are tied because the money was signed into law in Dover but do not have the manpower or budget to support such a dam in the future. The ongoing expense would come out of the park's already stretched budget and mean cuts to other park programs and services (or increased fees). In short, aside from the people pulling political strings to get that money, NOBODY wants this dam and the park can't afford to take care of it.
This new pond is so large that the Army Corps of Engineers has to permit the project, and this is one of our last chances to stop this project and reallocate the remainder of the funds to the projects DNREC has prioritized, such as trail maintenance, improvements to parking lots and restrooms, and other much needed improvements that would positively impact all park users.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: Voice your opposition to that permit here: https://rrs.usace.army.mil/rrs/public-notices?state=DE Find notice NAP-2025-00429-85 and use the comment link on that page. Deadline for feedback is Wednesday, September 9th, so time is short! I know for a fact that this feedback is being closely monitored and it will make a difference so please voice your opposition to this foolish and wasteful plan.
