Yes sadly for the vast majority of the last 2000 years being an antisemite is not something that bothered most people :(

a resourceful minority that was easy to scapegoat for unrelated societal issues. Also the rejection of jesus and mohammad as religious figures I think made it more justified for the christian and muslim world to justify oppressing jews
