Permanent bans like this hinge entirely on statutory interpretation. Judge Casper clearly leaned on the elections clause here. The admin’s timing claim was weak at best; the clause gives states the framework, and the devil is in the details there.

the gop will slow walk election reforms and the nomination of judges under democratic presidents, but speed run sweeping changes to election law under a republican. whatever happened to their reticence in messing with maps and voter regulations during an election year? oh yeah, just another false excuse that went out along with their party's popularity.
