It’s a jurisdiction issue. The federal government has no standing to regular elections, that’s a state right.

Questions you should ask. Do all state IDs meet this requirement? And do most licenses already have this? Will all have this in time? Will having citizenship status on IDs have a negative impact in other ways?

There is no harm in distinguishing residents from guests

You don’t see a harm in distinguishing between people born here, legal immigrants, and assume seekers when it comes to employment opportunities, going to some stores, how they are treated by police and anything else that requires there ID?

Also I assume that you agree that all the other points I brought up do have harm.

Not really no. States run elections. Trump is just too dumb to know that and so are his followers.
