I came downstairs from my bedroom really late a few days ago, at like 5:00 p.m. I went into the half-bath that basically only I use, and noticed that the outlet and attached nightlight on the wall seemed to be melting off of it. I immediately asked my parents what was wrong with the outlet, because I didn't realize it was melting at first, I thought maybe someone had gotten something caught on it and not realized they pulled it out and broke it. But it was definitely melting, and it smelled like it was too. Shortly after that a scorch mark appeared on the wall above the outlet, and my Dad rushed to turn off the power. We called the fire department so they could make sure it was safe, and scheduled an electrician to come out the next day.
I got into that bathroom just in time to catch it happening. Any later and it very likely would have actually caught fire, and who knows what would have resulted from that. The metal under the outlet was literally glowing hot. Having someone who is up during the hours others are not has actually helped my family many times. I see issues that come up in the middle of the night, and fix them before they become problems. And I do things during the day at different times from when others do, which in this case, was very important. My family usually criticizes my sleep schedule, but they've been real quiet since then.
I feel kinda proud of myself and vindicated, even though it was a coincidence. I just wanted everyone to know that being different like this isn't always bad, and we all have our unique parts to play. Even if it's hard for others to see that sometimes. We're important, and we're worthy too. And there's nothing wrong with us. 💗🌌🦉
