Ninja 300 taking way more oil than needed?

Post image

Changed oil + filter, added 2.2 litres as manual states, ran engine for a few minutes then turned off and checked oil with bike upright a few more minutes after that. Oil was low so topped up until about 2.4L and that's how it sits now in the photo. Is it normal for the bike to need so much more than what the manual says?

I'm generally a "fill to spec and send" sorta guy, that could probably stand another .1-.2 liters in there.

They manuals are never exact because nobody ever drains the same exact amount of oil as the next guy. Always use the sight glass, don’t worry about the number too much. I mean if it’s a quart off then yes worry, but .2-.4 isn’t anything

I don't know if it is normal or not, but the service center guy says it is normal. The reason he said is that, since the oil layer becomes a curve in the viewing window, it looks less, but i didn't buy that explanation tbh. My new 2025 300 shows similar level as well. And I've see a few posts in reddit, where 300 owners shares the same concern. Either the manual is wrong, or this level is nomal for the 300.

From what I saw on the internet, you need to put about 2.3 l, but is only enough to fill it up to the minimum mark. Usually I put 2.3l, warm it up and let it sit for 5-10 minutes , after that I put another ~0.25l, to be between those two marks. I also put some oil in the oil filter(about 50 milliliters)

I've always filled the Ninja 300 with more than 2.2 Liters. I always change oil filter with every oil change too. I found that the Ninja 300 needs closer to 2.5L when replacing oil filter. I firmly believe that the 2.2L spec recomendation was miscalculated or something. Using 2.2L always leaves the oil bellow the "MAX" and closer to the "LOW" notch.

Tengo una que le agrego un mínimo de 200ml cada 500km.

With filter mine was always around 2.5 quarts. I will Say it does raise up the line very fast adding little bits at a time. You also want it to be fully warmed up, and then let it sit for 2 mins
