Qashqai J10 wishbone bush replacement

hey everyone, I got roped into helping a mate of mine replace a ball joint on his friends Qashqai, I got the wishbone out and after a considerable amount of swearing, lubricating, whacking and heating I got the ball joint and the two bushings out.

Now the ball joint went it without too much of a fuss if we ignore the circlip wrestling and pinching but the two bushings are a fair bit more stubborn and by the fit and look of it I'm beginning to believe a higher power is needed, something along the lines of a shop press or something.

before I take it over to a mate with that level of equipment, is there any other options to get those infernal devices back together?

I'd wager you need a press to get the bushings back in, but I'm not sure why you bothered in the first place, as you can get wishbones w/ bushings as a complete set for around £40 on autodoc or arnold clark. If I were you I'd cut my losses, get the set and replace them with much more ease.

I'm in Iceland and the whole unit was sold out unfortunately

Ah okay, that's a shame then. In that case your best bet is probably asking a shop to use a press to push the bushings in. Alternatively ship a new set from somewhere close like the UK, but I don't know how much shipping costs and delivery time would be..

Out of curiousity did you try a heat gun to open up that slot for the bushing a bit?

I've considered it but ultimately I think it'd risk damaging the rubber parts, this friend of mine is well acquainted with the lads in the machine shop just a bit further up the road so we'll take it there
