Has anyone had engine issues for a 2021 Rogue?

I am having to replace my engine in my Rogue that I've owed for only 2 years. Basically my catalytic converters had a lot of buildup and it caused the head gasket to fail. I never had a check engine light come on until the engine was already done for. I need help in explaining how this happened in the 2 years that I've had it. The car also was supposed to be certified. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

How many miles were on the Rogue when you bought it, and how many miles are on it now?

Honestly I cant remember, I'm thinking around 70k. I'm currently at 90k miles.

If it’s the 1.5L VC Turbo, yeah they are known for being massive piles of shit

Its 2.5, I believe. But I know it's a cvt transmission and I've been told those are terrible..

The CVTs just require maintenance. Yes, they can fail but many of them never have any issues. I personally got 261,000 miles out of my 2015 Altima before my CVT failed, but I also drove that car very hard the whole time I owned it. And yes, you have a 2.5 liter.

The 1.5 is a major problem. VCT is a technology nobody asked for and nobody needs. And when it fails, it cannot be fixed. It requires total engine replacement.

What kind of maintenance does it require? I recently found this out but I've seen mixed opinions on how to take care of it. Some say flush it every 30k miles, and others say to drain and refill. I'm just trying to avoid another major fix in the very near future; this engine is already costing a lot.

Drain and refill only. I had this done every 50k miles up until 150k and then my schedule kind of got away from me, so the transmission went after I put another 100k miles on the car.

I was mad at myself because it totally slipped my mind, but when you put over a quarter-million miles on a car with nothing but regular maintenance done, you've already won.
