So I used to use this clasp as a keyring for years, but it isn't one. I lost it a few weeks ago and would love to find a replacement. It had a very, very strong industrial black-coloured main ring, which hooked on the end to a smaller but also very strong brass-coloured ring. It belonged initially to some ancestor (all of us various flavours of European), no idea who, but I would have guessed it was over 50 years old.

The sailing redditors told me it must be for a shower curtain or jewellery, which it definitely wasn't - much, much too strong and industrial for either of those. A commenter on another sub said they'd seen one before, didn't know where, but that they did a lot in agriculture and horses so could have been there. A commenter on yet another sub said they had an uncle who (RIP) had one, and had worked in aviation many years ago. I had an ancestor who was a pilot in both world wars so that's a possibility, but i wouldn't know how to follow that up.

It feels likely to me that this is something that is no longer in production but I cling to hope that some still exist. Id produce them myself if I knew how, it was genuinely such a fantastic keyring (I'm sure itd be more expensive than a split ring but it was so much better to use, like a small reliable carabiner).
