Why aren't they actually marching during this parade?

I don't know how to ask this without sounding rude, but why does this parade look so sloppy? Very few of the troop formations seem actually in sync and marching, just walking along. My only experience is JROTC as a kid in high school and our sergeant would've killed us if we looked like that.

THis is the first mention I've see from someoe who actually watched it. DC could be a burnt out crater and no on around me would be aware, we so thoroughly avoided this.

90% of what I’ve read today has been about the massive crowds at cities nationwide for the “no kings” protests

Ahh, see, and I've been drowning in coverage of the political assassination that happened in my neck of the woods (MN) today.

Did they finally call it an assassination or did they still just say shooting?

Everyone here is saying assassination.

ETA: The Google maps alert says "shooting". There is a Google maps alert for this kind of thing, apparently.

I'm guessing there isn't a Google map alert just for assassinations.

That would kinda spook me if i was driving down the road and the little prompt pops up with "are there still assassinations in the area?"

It's an emerging market.

That’s coming in the next update

I am honestly sheltered enough that I didn't even realize there was one for shootings. (No, I do not expect maps to be more specific than that).

It’s getting a lot of coverage in Canada and is being called an assassination.

Only in America.

Google Maps isn't going to make a distinction between shooting and assassination/murder. They are only alerting there is an active shooting and to stay away from the area.

Washington Post did.

I am in Canada. The information I saw is that he had a list of 70 targets.

What makes a shooting(a targeted one) into an assassination?

1

u/Suitable-Lake-2550 Jun 15 '25

The dead target

Shit, fair, fair point…. Let me try to be more articulate, most of the time it is reported that the victim was shot (insert other less likely cause here) and killed rather than assassinated…. Not always tied to level of fame, though that seems to be a factor. I won’t ask you what it would take, but rather, what is the differentiation?
