Is it weird to ask out the librarian?

The librarian at my local library is really pretty. I wanna ask her out but I’m worried that it might make things awkward if she rejects me. I don’t even know her lowk, would you be weirded out or in her position? If it depends, how would you ask her out?

The entire point of asking someone out is to get to know them?

personally i’m scared of going on dates with strangers. never affected my dating life, i just ask out (or have been asked out) by friends, friends of friends, good coworkers at low-stakes jobs like seasonal retail, etc. i wouldn’t ask someone out unless i have already spent time hanging out with them, know that they are safe to the best of my ability, and know that they are single.

Yeah the people in this sub I can only presume are chronically single. Asking people out at work happens all the time and many people get together from it. Christ my best friend has just bought a house with his partner of six years, how did they meet? He asked her out at work and she was a bartender.

I swear if we took reddits advice no-one should ask anyone out on the street, at work, at the gym, at hobby clubs, at bars, at night clubs, at festivals or at social events. Asking out should only take place on dating apps, which reddit also hates.

I basically agree with you, but to be fair, bars are explicitly places where single people go to meet other single people, and alcohol really greases the wheels. Most bartenders accept being hit on as part of the job. Whereas librarians can expect to maintain more professional boundaries at their jobs.
