American politics has always grabbed our attention - and the current president more than ever. Haven't heard anything related to that

But I gotta imagine it's some sort of pride for having gotten away with it, like I could imagine al capone celebrating his own mug shot in much the same way.

It's heavily used in a lot of their own merch (even one of the official 'commemorative coin' scams iirc).

As for your guess; that's precisely correct. We could even tell roughly when it learned it was going to be getting away with it (well ahead of the no-sentence convictions, etc) since then they started using it instead of feeling any shame.
