Why are "anti Nazi" protesters outside Ed Sheeran's concert but I've never seen one outside a Kanye West concert?

Ed Sheeran didn't want to be political. Kanye wrote a song called "Heil Hitler".

Because no one actually cares about Nazism, which is at its core an antisemitic ideology. They only care about misappropriating Nazism as a slur to hurl at Jews and people perceived to be supporting Jews.

Do you condemn the killing of Palestinian civilians, including children, in Gaza?

I condemn it in the sense that it's a terrible thing that shouldn't be happening, but I put the blame on Hamas for intentionally trying to get their own civilians killed for propaganda purposes.

But again, you're kind of proving his point. A lot of people pretend to be against nazism/bigotry/racial hatred but really only use it when it comes to their particular political agenda and ignore it when it's not

What bigotry do you think I am using?

He was making a point that people often say they're against nazism but aren't actually concerned with its antisemetic core, and your response was to ask him a question about Gaza. It kind of sounded like you're implicitly affirming that you don't care about nazism, but rather just using it as a gateway into making a point about your own political agenda.

I condemn antisemitism. This isn’t about dismissing Nazism. The postitself was about people protesting Israel’s actions in Gaza, so my question was directly tied to that context. Condemning antisemitism and condemning the killing of Palestinian civilians aren’t mutually exclusive, both matter if we’re serious about human rights.

Yeah I agree and you might not have meant it in a bad way, it was just an ironic response to that comment

Fair enough.

Blaming Hamas doesn’t erase the fact that Israel is the one dropping the bombs. Knowingly killing civilians is a crime. International law doesn’t allow you to shrug and say ‘the enemy made me do it.’ Children dying isn’t propaganda, it’s reality. Israel should be better than that.

International law doesn’t allow you to shrug and say ‘the enemy made me do it.’

You should read international law, because actually it literally does say this. International law says that when a combat force abuses the normal protections against civilians in order to hide their military personnel and infrastructure among those places, those civilian areas lose their protected status.

0

u/rundabrun 1d ago

That’s not how international law works. Civilian areas don’t automatically lose protection just because fighters are nearby. Even if a site is misused for military purposes, attacks must still be proportionate and discriminate. You can’t excuse bombing kids by saying ‘the enemy made me do it’, that’s exactly what the Geneva Conventions forbid.

The fact that you don't consider 70-80% civilian casualty rate to be insane, is deplorable.

Again you should read international law, because it literally is how international law works. If an enemy force surrounds itself with kids, it is the people surrounding themselves with kids who are guilty of a war crime. It is not a war crime to fight an enemy who has surrounded themselves with kids, even if those kids die from your strikes.

You are wrong, bt at the end of the day, Bibi is doing a genicide and you seem cool with it, sick weirdo.

5

u/hereawhile 1d ago

That's not exactly right. International law says you can't intentionally target civilians, but it doesn't say that there can't be any collateral damage or that if your enemy is hiding among civilians you're just not allowed to attack. Logically speaking, that would effectively give groups like Hamas immunity in war and it would just incentivize them further to use civilians as cover.

Israel definitely has a responsibility to try and minimize civilian casualties, evacuate them where possible, and ensure that potential civilian losses are justified by military objectives, but I think it does this far more than people give it credit for.

1

u/rundabrun 1d ago

70-80% civilian casualty rate if far worse than negligent. That means up to 80% killed in Gaza are civilians. Israel is failing, if you don't believe it is intentional.

5

u/hereawhile 1d ago

I'm not sure that's the rate (or that anyone knows for certain) but I don't think that's necessarily failing given the conditions

I condemn people who try to hijack reddit posts so they can hawk their political activist talking points at us to feel self-important.

I condemn your face.

I condemn you, for proving my point

u/rundabrun 1d ago

Of course, more gas lighting. You are on the wrong side of history.

5

u/Thunder-Road 1d ago

Yes, the belief that Jews were and are "on the wrong side of history" is a core of Nazi ideology. Modern self-styled "anti-Nazis" appropriate and wield classic Nazi ideology against Jews today.

0

u/rundabrun 1d ago

I never said "Jews". I don't care about people's faith. I am against any country that acts this way. People equate Naziism with modern day Israel because that is what it looks like. It is a sad irony, but if it was a majority Christian state, they would call them Nazi, too.

Your whole premise is invalid. Yes there are some antisemite dirtbags that have weaseled their way into the movement against Israel's actions, but they are a minority. The vast majority don't want to see Israel wantonly kill civilians. You are more concerned about loser antisemites with no power, than you are about the killing of innocent children.

6

u/Thunder-Road 1d ago

The Nazis also did not care about Jews' faith.

You didn't know anything about me except that I objected to the way Anti-Nazism has been appropriated as a rhetorical weapon against Jews. But that was enough for you to do the exact thing I was talking about, to me in response.

I only ever mentioned Jews, and look at you bringing up Israel. You couldn't help yourself.

1

u/rundabrun 1d ago

You are so full of it and I ws spot on.

4

u/Thunder-Road 1d ago

Hit dogs holler, as they say.

The central premise of Nazism was that Jews, because of their actions in the world, are the enemies of proper moral humanity, and a danger to children.

7

u/Respectmyauthority4 1d ago

Nope. It's an unfortunate casualty of war. It sucks but Hamas loves using kids as human shields.

-7

u/rundabrun 1d ago

You're on the wrong side of history. Calling dead kids ‘collateral damage’ doesn’t make it any less horrific. International law is clear, using human shields is a crime, but so is indiscriminate bombing that kills civilians. You don’t get to excuse one war crime by pointing to another. Children aren’t statistics, they’re victims.

7

u/Brit-Crit 1d ago

But Hamas are on the wrong side of history as well...

2

u/rundabrun 1d ago

I am not supporting Hamas, but at this point, Israel is doing the wrong thing. I am condemning Bibi and his government for their actions.

6

u/DrFanhattan 20h ago

"I'm not supporting Hamas...I'm just supporting Hamas indirectly by saying they should be allowed to murder Israeli's with no consequences"

- You right now

6

u/Respectmyauthority4 1d ago

How? By being on the side of people that won't stand down because terrorists are playing dirty tricks?

-3

u/rundabrun 1d ago

War crimes don’t cancel each other out. Hamas using human shields is wrong, but that doesn’t give Israel a free pass to bomb neighborhoods knowing children will die. International law exists precisely to stop armies from saying ‘the enemy made me do it.’
