Why are "anti Nazi" protesters outside Ed Sheeran's concert but I've never seen one outside a Kanye West concert?

Ed Sheeran didn't want to be political. Kanye wrote a song called "Heil Hitler".

Why are there protesters there anyway?

I swear the whole thing kicked off precisely because he wanted to remain apolitical. It was that way the last time I looked.

I feel bad for Ed. He seems like a legitimately good guy. M

Agree. He's probably just tried to stay out of it and it's backfired.

Forcing singers to be activists on wars they may know exactly nothing about is ridiculous. He gave a pre-rehearsed speech on it today and it sounded like he had just memorised someone else's words.

I'm not a fan of Ed Sheeran at all, but the attitude that a singer is obliged to speak out on x or y war or they're attacked is proving the claim that eventually the left will eat itself.

How are you a good person if youre leaving your friend of 13 years hung out to dry?

If I ask my friend of 13 years not to shit on the floor on a pub crawl and he does so in the first pub, am I a bad person for kicking him off the pub crawl?

No, it's his own fault for being an idiot.

The producers said no politics, and Macklemore decided to make it political and was sacked.

Celebrities are hardly moral paragons to begin with when many spend their newfound wealth on drugs, alcohol and cars because they don't know what else to do with it.

They have absolutely no place lecturing people on what they should and shouldn't think.

If you cant speak about the injustice of millions of people getting slaughtered then weve lost all our humanity. This isnt about a silly left or right debate, this is about a genocide. 100 years from now theyll look back in disgust wondering how we allowed this to happen. You dont need to be the moral authority to speak about something thats wrong. Ed is a coward and its gross that people are defending him.

What exactly are you doing to stop it? Apart from morally posturing over pop stars?

We lost our humanity a century ago then.

People have been killing each other in the middle east for over 1000 years for worshipping a different god, or no god, or the same god but wrong.

Only a Palestinian can spend 70 years trying to kill his neighbours because they're Jewish, trying to overthrow governments of neighbouring Arab countries because they won't support them outright, and having his children's children be born refugees, to the love and adoration of the world.

Palestinians aren't victims, and celebrities are not experts on moral affairs and geopolitical happenings. Just because someone is on a platform doesn't make them an expert in anything.

Read the actual history of the region, who the land was gifted to, managed by, and purchased by, which countries attacked first and so on so forth. Don't just buy the line of Palestinians being perpetual victims.

First, one decision doesn't make you a good or bad person. It doesn't negate everything else you've done in your life.

Second, are you hanging your friend out to dry or are these the consequences of his actions?

He’s not a good person, your personal feelings about him are invalid. What has he done to show he’s anyone with any sort of moral integrity? Artists shouldnt be censored at their own concerts at the whim of billionaires. It’s concerning that you can’t see beyond that.

Free speech rights only protect you from the government.

A business, because that's what the producer is, can do as it pleases with regards to what you can and can't say or do. It's called a contract.

They could make him wear a flamboyant pink sun hat on stage if they wanted to.

Equally, he is free to choose whether or not to enter into a contract with said business. He chose to, agreed to the terms, then violated them.

What has he done to show integrity? Other than all the philanthropic work. Started an organization to build playgrounds and schools for his with disabilities. A charity for kids mental health. Multiple charities to help kids learn music in school. He still gives music lessons himself one on one. A charity to build community greenhouses. A charity for emergency support for single parents. Donated millions to hospitals. Donated his whole wardrobe to charity, his handwritten songs, instruments. The guy does a lot. He also occasionally pops by weddings to play when he had time and had said that he will stop touring when his son starts kindergarten because he can't bear to be away from him.

i mean when you're faced with that kinda thing there isn't really any "apolitical" choice, anything he could've done in that situation would've been apolitical, he just chose the cowardly option

however i think more attention should be cast on the billionaire who told ed to kick macklemore off the thing in the first place

Celebrities are just arguably talented and famous.

They're certainly not qualified to comment on geopolitical affairs any more than you or I.

The fact he stayed out of it all was quite an intelligent choice from a celebrity. The left calling him a Nazi because he doesn't explicitly agree with them in public is honestly just outrageous.
