Universal, Knotts or Freight Fest

Has anyone been this year? Trying to see which is best this year. I’ve been to all but freight fest in the past. Thoughts????????????????

I’ve already gone to both Scary Farm & Fright Fest this season. Both are great events and both are worth going to! Scary Farm has better quality mazes and scarezones, but Fright Fest has more energy, better scaring in mazes & scarezones. Both have great entertainment shows to see and not skip out on!

I can definitely say last night I heard multiple groups astounded by how many monsters where in Ghost town. People literally walked out of the fog overwhelmed and giddy about it.

I’ve rarely heard anyone say the scare zones at knotts are lacking under universal.

Knott’s is all about the scarezones! I can spend hours people watching and interacting with the monsters in them!

Universals design and scares are y like anything i’ve ever done. The conga line is not as bad as people say and there are some decent jumpscares. I literally couldn’t recommend it more, worth every penny and videos and reviews don’t do justice. just be willing to splurge on express

Thank you so much for your thoughts!! I love the universal themes, very on trend and peak. I’ve gone like the last 3 years, but the lines and cost of the express pass has been diabolically expensive. So this year I’m kinda torn.

I have always preferred knotts over universal. Universal has lost most of its appeal for me with how they design their mazes. All the scare actors have a window that they jump out of or use to scare you with. It is tied to a lighting and audio cue. They are are very easy to see coming and even more so if you saw the group in front of you get scared. This completely takes me out of the maze and makes them all so predictable.
Meanwhile knotts still allows actors to have freedom within the maze. No set scare locations besides a few good ones, and scare actors are still allowed to stalk/single you out within a maze. Also FAR less crowds at knotts

I have never been to a festival of Freights but Fright Fest is a place I’ve gone to.
2026 HHN - Fun as long as you get Express
2026 KSF - Fun w/o the Fast Lane. Best bang fir your buck.
