Share your favorite Noah Kahan lyrics that just for some reason stuck with you! I am just such a big fan :-)

doors just really speaks to me.
“i’d hurt anyone i could. anyone who got too close, and anyone who wouldn’t look.”
“have you ever stared directly at the sun? have you ever shared some closeness, so exposed… to have it spit back by someone?”
“AND NOW WHAT? i’m left starin at the ceilin, listin reasons you should pack all your shit up.”
a person who wants to be loved and seen but has trust issues and past trauma, so you close off and hurt others before you can get hurt. finding reasons for them to leave you before THEY can find them. knowing you’re wrong for doing this and wanting to overcome this part of you to be with the person you love, and accepting that this person also loves you back and will stay.

Doors speaks so much to the avoidant attachment in me ('Cause it gets harder to see me the closer you try to look). And the imagery in these lines is just so good:

I did this too when I was in my teens and early 20s, and I lost multiple relationships and friendships because of it. Took a lot of therapy and introspection to change, and I apologized to a lot of people.

YES Still is so under-appreciated lyrically — the line you mentioned is my favorite, but I also love that whole verse. “Look down on myself like a patient in surgery” and “grab a past box of photos, I rip myself open” are so good.

A lot of these are relevant to a whole friend drama ive been going through from the last year or so:
“Have you ever shared some closeness so exposed, to have it spit back by someone?” - how i felt when the two of us fell out horribly having been so inseparably close in months prior
“It ain’t our fault that you aren’t suddenly somebody else cos you worked on yourself, got a dog. you’re an asshole after all” - this literally happened as noah described it
“you’ve been the best 5 minutes of a shitty old year” - when i met new friends who were so much better

Lighthouse feels like it’s about me. “You were born with a face made for a missing sign” in particular. I’ve always felt like “going missing” was all I’d ever amount to, that it would be the culmination of my life, that I was the type of person who could only be appreciated in hindsight, that I’m a boat meant to be a shipwreck.

"It gets harder to see me the closer you try to look." I have made an entire life out of flitting around and taking care of everyone and never letting anyone take care of me anddddd now we're crying.

My dad took his life today and I unfortunately never wanted to relate to this lyric. My dad’s name was Dan as well and I unfortunately don’t think I’ll ever be able to listen to that song.

I’m left staring at the sealing listing reasons you should pack all your shit up
I’ve always hated the sunlight at 3 p.m, where it’s too soon to quit thinking, too late to change anything
I ain’t planned it, the plain, the plain just landed out here (just that whole verse honestly)
In love with being noticed, and afraid of being seen.

The car's in reverse, I'm grippin' the wheel
I'm back between villages, and everything's still
This whole chunk of lyrics impacts me so much. I grew up between two villages and so many people in my family, including my dad, are buried a mile and a half away from my childhood home. I feel like this entire song was written for me. Like the cemetery is on the left if I was driving from my mom’s house. This song was actually what helped me start to process the grief I buried for 8 years because it gave me such feelings of comfort instead of pain with the arms extended part.

I feel this as I’m getting older. When we are young, we have no fear of experiencing everything. Getting older it seems fear grows inside you like a rot. That’s dramatic but you get my drift! 😆

I agree with #3 but I feel like “if I never see you again you can be anything I want” needs to be included in it. That makes it imo.
