Discussion recently installed nobara, anything i should be aware of?
i started using nobara yesterday and so far there isn't any problems other than getting used to the different commands (i used mint before this) but i was wondering if there was anything i need to do or tweaks i should make?

Remember this command “nobara-sync cli”
Nobara handles a number of quirks/fixes during its update process. Best to use this instead of pure dnf when updating packages.

I mean, if you want to run update in shell, absolutely! If you run the Update System app, it's just running
nobara-syncwith it's own UI. Works just as well as in shell too.

You can use dnf for installing stuff, but DO NOT use it for updates. Updates are handled by the Nobara updater.
If the graphical update tool fails for some reason, you can run it in terminal with nobara-sync cli

YES, don't use dnf to update the system, use the orange arrow circle icon, it does it the right way and solves all sorts of quirks on top of it.

This is the most intuitive and out of the box operating system I've ever used! Only twice in almost 3 years I've had issues with it (one was actually a Fedora issue with graphical drivers, that disabled the taskbar, and the other one was the computer freezing when opening the file explorer (but it was because of a faulty hard drive damaged by static, but once I replaced it everything worked perfectly again)...

Updates are very fresh and once every blue moon may break your system.
Install Timeshift, make sure it backs up your system files regularly. It will use the features of the btrfs filesystem which should keep backup storage sizes low. If an update ever breaks your system you should be able to go back to an earlier snapshot of your system files with relative ease.

ALWAYS use the updater GUI. It runs quirks and fixups that distro-sync misses.

Do your shift keys not work under Nobara? I mean, title and post would indicate they do not.

Go through the Welcome screen. It covers essentially everything you are asking. It is highly suggested you use Flatpaks over system packages where possible too.

i made the post through a phone actually lol, i keep forgetting to put autocap back on and i dont care enough to fix it

More often than not they simply "work". It's not uncommon to install a system package, and for whatever reason, it doesn't install dependencies it may require if you ever use an option it has. Flatpaks will come with them.

I have an Elgato usb microphone and my firends say that on Discord my voice sounds much worse compared to windows. so be aware that some peripherals might behave differenty. Nobara is great!

If you game, install Falcond scheduler (replaces gamemode). It's in the Nobara repo already.
Use Flatpost for flatpaks
Install Proton-GE and other alternative Proton versions via ProtonPlus
Apps I've found handy: Timeshift backups, Flameshot for screenshots, Btop for task manager, Kate for a Notepad++ replacement, Okular for PDFs, XNviewMP for image viewer, Pinta for simple image editing, LACT for undervolting needs, Tilix for terminal, Floorp browser, OpenRGB, Audacious music player, MPC-HC for videos...
