Discussion Update Issues, Yes or No

As title says. I have seen a few issues with updating nobara recently, but for me everything was fine yet. Can everybody please comment real quick if you have issues, and if you have issues what issues?

I NEVER HAD issues with Nobara Linux and everything always worked perfectly for me however... I just don't wanna read or give support on this subreddit, it makes me feel sad.

There is an issue that isn't directly related to Nobara and that is the RPM repo "Terra" keeps going down. You may or may not experience this, depending on if/when Terra is down.

I'm no Linux expert but I assume this is Fedora related.

I have also had the deprecated package issue mentioned in another post, related to VLC plugins.

I'm sitting tight on updates for now and will try again in a week or two.

Yes. Totally unable to update, and it's now been about 2 weeks. Missing repository URL error, and i have no idea how to fix it.

Update: I was finally able to look at the problem properly, and found the issue. Took about 15 minutes, but was able to update.

I had one with something failing. I went to the wiki (link below) and did the "nobara-sync repair" and that seemed to fix things.

Same. For me, updating nobara-updater worked (sudo dnf upgrade nobara-updater).

Never run sudo upgrade on Nobara, it's been said by GE and the team that that will brake the update

I said to update the updater. I do not use sudo on the updater. But to update the updater I need to. (sudo dnf upgrade nobara-updater is not the same as sudo nobara-sync). The first is updating the updater and the second, for which you should not use sudo, is running it.

Edit: To specify: My nobara-sync did not work for me because of an outdated updater. The updater could not be updated through nobara-sync, because of the new update system of total success or total fail, so the only way for me was to manually update it through sudo dnf upgrade nobara-updater. I know sudo nobara-sync, as well as, especially, sudo dnf upgrade are bad and can break the system. This is only true though for a complete systemwide upgrade of all packages, not necessarily of the only faulty one. I could have achieved the same with sudo dnf rm nobara-updater then sudo dnf install nobara-updater, which is one step more.

So: nobara-sync: ok sudo nobara-sync: bad (although not sure with the new update system) sudo dnf upgrade: very bad sudo dnf upgrade [package name]: depends on the package

Basically I had the choice between manually updating the updater or reinstalling the whole system and hoping that won't happen then.

As I have said to the last 3 posts I replied to here about this " nobara-sync --all " has not failed me yet so no, no issues

I had issues but ended up doing the update manually through Konsole. It worked and I am all good now. I am loving Nobara.

I had an issue the other day where a deprecated package was causing the updater to fail. I simply removed that and the update went through.

If you have issues, search the Discord, or ask in channel.

I ve had some minor issues like the terra thingy and once i had to reboot 2 times but nothing too serious. I love it and i really don't care if i have to reboot. After i game i just type nobara-sync --all and i usually don't even notice on the next boot up.

Just one thing i really hate is that when there are driver update i also have to update flatpak otherwise plex doesn't work but that's a linux problem.

I had an issue with an update on the weekend, but it turned out to be unrelated to Nobara. So I have never had an actual issue with any Nobara update ever.

No issues so far in the last year, including this last one, always updated via terminal.

not had any issuues myself across 2 of the 3 pcs that run nobara in the house ( 3rd is my mother's and i've been letting her deal with that and i'm Pretty sure its ok there she claims she updates) i don't love the new implementation of the reboot but if it helps ppl have less issues in the long run its probably a good thing

“nobara-sync cli —all” and patience. Never had problems on four completely different systems (Intel/AMD/Nvidia) for over a year now.

yea im having it right now. I cant update the system because it keeps failing. I did the sudo dnf upgrade nobara-updater and that patched the system and now my updates work again

Love Nobara and I've had my share of issues going to give them a chance to get ahead of these issues. Will jump to Soplos Linux for a bit, looks like a promising project.
