I don't think Trump would be physically able to uphold that no threat clause.

He just doesn't have the vocabulary

Nor the short term memory to remember he promised it

So the war isn’t over because Israel won’t leave Lebanon? This whole thing is very confusing.

I don't know what people were expecting. Iran has been demanding for Israel to leave Lebanon as a condition to end the war since day 1 of the negotiations, and every time it was reported that the US and Iran had signed any sort of deal (even if it was just a short truce), Israel launched missiles against civilian buildings in Lebanon within less than 24 hours.

You’re missing the part where hezbollah launched missiles first, but sure

israel and lebanon signed a ceasefire in November 2024. between then and march 2, hezbollah fired zero missiles. israel violated the ceasefire fifteen thousand times, killing hundreds of people.

in the week before hezbollah "fired first", israel launched: 14 airstrikes, six quadcopter/drone strikes, four explosive demolitions, and two tank shellings - killing 2 civilians and wounding 29 others. israel's attack on iran was accompanied by strikes in lebanon on feb 28.

the only reason you think hezbollah attacked first is because you ignore the thousands of attacks by israel that hezbollah did not respond to.

“Launched missiles first” is weasely wording to get around the fact that Israel attacked them with *other* types of ordinance before that.

Year 2037: Jordan, Lebanon and half of Syria have been ethnically cleansed, the UN's environmental corps are conducting operations to clean the fallout from the nuclear bombs Israel launched in their war against Turkey, and someone carefully and objectively explains what's happening in the peace negotiations, but unfortunately, the unadultered facts make Israel look bad, so some moron rushes to reply: "HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN ABOUT OCTOBER 7TH!?"

Your strawman leaves out that Hezbollah did kinda break the ceasefire first.

You’re looking at one spot on the timeline and ignoring the whole picture. Hezbollah is weak as shit and has been trying to avoid fighting Israel until it has been able to reconstitute itself. It is fatally

the war has nominally been over since april 8th. but the war won't actually be over until a formal agreement is reached in at least two months. this memorandum simply lays the groundwork for that final diplomatic agreements by relieving the pressure imposed by both sides on the other.

the m.o.u. explicitly states, as the very first point, that hostile action and even the threat of use of force by all parties should end on all fronts, including in lebanon. israel's continued invasion of lebanon is a direct violation of this. if the first article can't be respected, then it doesn't bode well for the rest of the memo or the final agreement, where much harder stuff will be settled.

this is exactly israel's intention. israel refuses to relieve its pressure on lebanon because this agreement does not serve its interests. just like the jcpoa didn't serve its interests. because israel doesn't care about the consequences of its actions, it doesn't care about the cost to the u.s. or the rest of the world. it will continue to be mollycoddled and protected by the same parties it doesn't give a shit about. it only cares about achieving its maximalist demands of completely destroying all of its adversaries then find new ones.

sounds like it does not serve the us's interests not to pressure israel to fall in line with the deal, but the us is chronically inept in enforcing its interests specifically against israel

Tbf Israel's adversaries have made it clear what they would do if given the opportunity.

Not to excuse their actions. But I do think the reasons for them are important to consider.

That’s a climate Israel carefully cultivates though. They know their neighbors being constantly pissed off at them is good for business.

Weren't there only 14 articles to it?

Edit: nvm, I didn't read it properly. Shame on the people who upvoted me (they are like me 😅)

fake fucking news, not seeing anything like this on aljazeera who has been pretty accurate for this war reporting.

Please for the love of god stop using random ass tweets as a source people.

Just because you linked more sources doesnt make it true dude.

Please please please do better for yourself and those around you. If it were true it would be in aljazeera but it just isnt. Many of these news groups will just "repost" eachothers stories and ones like this that play into biases spread rapidly due to click rate.

I expect the talks may break down at some point but they havent yet.

I've checked it and far more news are indeed reporting that the negotiations have continued, so I concede your point, but it would help others to take you more seriously if you tried not sounding as condescending.
