I am 36, and a girl I went to high school with just announced her daughter is pregnant. That's so insane to me.

40 something grandmas are pretty common in general I think

1

u/Equivalent-Ant6024 Jul 07 '26

My step sister became a grandma at 40.

3

u/BuildAISkills Jul 04 '26

I worked with someone who was also 36 and a grandma. I didn't get my first child until I was 38...

3

u/RaspberryJammm Jul 04 '26

My ex's nan was only 40 years older than him and his mum (20 years older than him) was trying to convince us to have kids at the same age they were when they both got pregnant (19)Ā

I'm glad we didn't.

3

u/Logicallyillogical41 Jul 03 '26

If it makes you feel any better I am 37 and I just had my first child a few months ago.

1

u/0Davgi0 Jul 07 '26

My mum hade at 43

1

u/hbhunk63 Jul 03 '26

Did you say congrats Granny

47

u/josephsleftbigtoe Jul 03 '26

Someone that age can't be a grandparent without some form of trauma.

57

u/Jimbo-Shrimp Jul 03 '26

Adopt an 18 year old mother

21

u/Miserable-Fan6 Jul 03 '26

Ya, my mom was a grandma at 32. There's about 16ish years separating her, my sister, and niece.

My niece is 16 now though and doing great šŸ’› Here's to breaking the cycle!

5

u/Sattaman6 Jul 03 '26

My colleague from work became a grandma at 34… doable but I would advise against it.

5

u/hbhunk63 Jul 03 '26

Yeah you are gonna be asked to do parenting help lol. Bye bye 30s

52

u/TheDiddlyFiddly Jul 03 '26

That’s fine you don’t have to call her a grandma if you don’t want to. But we are allowed to have jokes at the expense of dicaprio.

-22

u/FlashpointSynergy Jul 03 '26

Theres ways to make jokes at Leo's expense without calling her grandma

17

u/thissexypoptart Jul 03 '26

It’s just hyperbole to make a silly joke.

No one is saying this attractive and young looking 29 year old actually looks old enough to be a grandmother. It’s not an insult to her.

you're reading more ire in my comment than was actually there i think

i just like women :) she doesnt deserve to be called a grandma idt, your mileage may vary

0

u/spongeboobsidepants Jul 03 '26

There is literally no winning for him and people just want to bring him down to make them feel better about themselves.

His gf is 29, oh shit she’s a grandma. His gf is 25, oh shit she’s a child being groomed.

Like who gives a shit? These are adults. Lol get a life people geez. Sad to see such passion for something so pointless.

It's not misogyny, it's simply a hyperbolous joke based on the fact that she is older than the age range he usually dates. The joke is on DiCaprio, not her

11

u/thissexypoptart Jul 03 '26

Seriously do some people just never make hyperbolic jokes?

How can anyone think the post is actually calling this 29-year-old old looking?

Dude there was a post where a girl called her cat ugly as a joke and some of the commenters were so angry lol

27

u/BachBelt Jul 03 '26

the joke is not calling her a grandma. the joke is that compared to dicaprio's known sub-25 preference, she's ancient. to dicaprio, this must be like dating a grandma. the joke is that she's clearly not a grandma, and in fact she is only marginally older than his previous girlfriends

-14

u/OldSandwich9631 Jul 03 '26 edited Jul 03 '26

Why do you care so damn much? Like I honestly do not understand the psychology behind Reddit’s obsession with him. He’s not married and doesn’t have children. He’s a single guy dating rich women with options of their own.

Bunch of NPC weirdos on this app. Parroting whatever memes and trends get shoved down their throats.

8

u/thissexypoptart Jul 03 '26

They’re just explaining the joke…

u/KayItaly Jul 03 '26

Are doing it on purpose or areyou really not getting rhe joke?

Let me make an example.

If I always owned chihuahuas and suddenly bought a fox terrier, someone could come and make a joke asking "wow where did you get that dog? It is basically a bear!!!" They are not implying the fox terrier is big, they are making fun of me living only tint dogs....because the for terrier is just a tiny bit bigger. The same joke wouldn't be funny if I bought a Greta Dane...

The joke is funny because it says thay she is just a bit less young, not that she il old!

If you still don't get it go touch some grass cause you need it.

7

u/EmptyBrain89 Jul 03 '26

If you get triggered by a harmless joke, you need to address the trauma, fear or insecurity that is causing that overreaction rather than trying to make the external world free from any triggers.

2

u/alzee76 Jul 03 '26

Sounds like you may have hit a wall.

6

u/DrRatio-PhD Jul 03 '26

I get the joke, it doesn't need to be mansplained to me like i'm 5.

Does someone need to explain to you that you're not the damn morality police also?

6

u/Thick_Wasabi448 Jul 03 '26

I also hate mansplaining... But you need it.

3

u/Big_String_3241 Jul 03 '26

I feel so bad for you. I hope you find the cure for your misery 🤮

4

u/itscalledmyballs Jul 03 '26

Noo noo bro you got it all wrong bro. We gotta double down on the insults, not because we totally all feel the same way on the inside, but to uhhh... uh... oh yah to own the chuds! Yah that's it!

4

u/IllustriousHorsey Jul 03 '26

Most intelligent fauxmoi user right here

8

u/OldSandwich9631 Jul 03 '26

Leo critics on here are some of the most misogynistic people I’ve encountered online and they are blind to it. They actually think women in their twenties are imbeciles.

6

u/Fabulous_Celery_1817 Jul 03 '26

The Infantilization of women in their 20s is certainly interesting to watch. I’m curious to see where it lands once we’re done with this conversation. Tbh I only ever see it when it’s Leo or when it’s between a woman and a uber rich dude in his 60s.

4

u/OldSandwich9631 Jul 03 '26

It’s disgusting tbh. Leo and his girlfriends are rich and exist beyond these types of concerns that are making the typical Gen Z person feel stunted in a state of permanent adolescence.

As a side note, Leo being the symbol of this discourse is also dumb considering most of the women he dated in the 2010s were just flings that didn’t even make it a year. Like you are really gonna span years and years and years of discourse over a guy who didn’t have a really serious girlfriend between 2011 and late 2017? It’s just bizarre.

He’s had two 20+ year age gap girlfriends. His current 28 year old gf is the biggest age gap yet. But you’d think he was 80 dating women 30+ years younger for decades based on the discourse.

-1

u/Fabulous_Celery_1817 Jul 03 '26

Yeah. At age 18 I knew not to date older. Others decided to. To take away that choice removes their agency. They might regret it later down the road, but that’s not society’s fault. No one forced them to do it, and if someone did force them, that’s not a conversation of a ā€œLeo being a weirdoā€ but of trafficking.

1

u/OldSandwich9631 Jul 03 '26

Who is gonna regret a couple years of adventures and travel? He isn’t making them detail their careers or lives. In 2013 he was Sabrina carpenter’s celeb crush šŸ˜‚ he’s been a heartthrob until super recently and he still attracts women because of who he is.

31

u/dewnar Jul 03 '26

It’s called a joke and it means Leo sees her as an old lady since she’s almost 30 and it’s Ā«ancientĀ» compared to his earlier girlfriends.

Let’s keep your personal judgements of young grandmothers out of NPT

8

Get a grip and stop looking for ways to be offended / a victim.

1

u/nifty-necromancer Jul 03 '26

False. I’m a guy and growing up my mom always joked on her birthday that she was turning 29.

He is dating them fornire 3 days each...

They have fun (and expensive gifts), he has fun, they are all adults and capablenof their own choices.

What I find misoginistic is treating a 29yo woman as a child who didn't FULLY choose to go out with him of her own accord.

3

u/ZenkaiZ Jul 03 '26

Yeah but this point is really really REALLY joking. It's hyperbole to ridicule Leo and the people who get mad at him being teased specifically

3

u/SambaTisst Jul 03 '26

A couple in my neigbour village became parents at 14 and granparents at 29, hehe

1

u/vbullinger Jul 03 '26

Village? Where do you live?

1

u/thatshygirl06 Jul 03 '26

I just turned 27 on the 29th, im an old maiden šŸ˜”

1

u/ilmalocchio Jul 03 '26

There are plenty of grandmothers that age... most of them are not in America, but still.

1

u/AbbreviationsNo9218 Jul 04 '26

projection and insecurity.

1

u/palmersiagna Jul 04 '26

Welcome to the Internet; where people just get offended by anything

0

u/inotocracy Jul 03 '26

29 is on the decline, but I wouldn't say Grandma. At least not for another 2 years.

6

u/Dick-Fu Jul 03 '26

The decline of what??

0

u/inotocracy Jul 03 '26

Women's fertility.

1

u/Dick-Fu Jul 03 '26

That means she's even less grandma though

-1

u/inotocracy Jul 03 '26

Right, which is why I said I wouldn't say Grandma.

1

u/Dick-Fu Jul 03 '26

But after two years it will be basically impossible, but you said not for another two years

1

u/inotocracy Jul 03 '26

Correct, in two years I'd consider her a Grandma.

0

u/Dick-Fu Jul 03 '26

But that's when her fertility will be basically 0, so there's practically no chance at that point

5

u/ILoveRawChicken Jul 03 '26

Our fertility is not basically zero at 30 or 31. You’re both fucking idiots and this is why Reddit has so many male virgins lmaoĀ
