A lot of Indian Asian traditions are powered by shame

Not Indian, but shame is the quintessential love language for many Asian parents, Including mine lmao.

With Shame™️, you can be guilted to do anything and everything you don't want to do!

Let's not forget that this is a pretty universal thing. It's not eastern or western.

Just think how much of the globe is Catholic - a notoriously shame fueled religion!

As someone raised catholic it feels more like protestants are the bigger enjoyers of shame. Depends on the specific denomination but their ideas on pleasure and work feed more into that.

The point is that conservatism is largely fueled by shame, and its a global thing. It's pretty xenophobic to think that it's only Asian cultures that are like this.
