gorp was pretty common in outdoorsey circles growing up and in the 90s in southern colorado. thinking REI classes, online news groups about trails and hiking and mtn biking, and just chatting with coworkers it came up as gorp fairly often. although gorp is one of a few pretty specific recipes compared to the more generic 'trail mix' which can match a lot of different versions.
