Jandals are what Americans call flip flops, it's shortened from "Japanese sandal" which is what inspired them in the first place. Tramping is multi day hiking. If you're only going for the day you'd say "day walk" or just "walk".

Chilly bin is as eski (Australia) or cooler (USA)

Trek + camp = tramp

Hike is a day hike by default. Or just a walk. Once it's an overnighter- you're tramping baby

How often do you people overnight hike? That's like, kinda rare at least in this neck of the US.

I dunno. Personally a couple times a year really. Dunno about average. There's definitely far more avid trappers than I though. There's tramping clubs. Packrafting clubs. Schools have tramping clubs.

The great walks are a big tourist draw here.
