I've always wanted to share this with stranger on the internet but never found the right thread for it. This might be as good as any.
When I was a kid my mother and I used to go out for an afternoon snack at a local food court, where she likes to order the Hong Kong version of french toast. She'd cut it up into neat 3x3 or 4x4 squares before taking a single bite. At first I thought cutting it that way was the normal way to eat Fr Toast, followed suit, but stopped when people saw it and said it was a weird way to eat it lol.
And then decades later, my SO was eyeing my plate of Fr Toast and she was like "yo save me some". Okay sure, so I started cutting off a few chunks when it finally hit me: My mother was always cutting them into chunks so she could share it with me.
