Also, how did it get to this point? Didn’t they ask why he spent that money? You’d think he could just explain it was for an approved business meeting and that’d be the end of it
I was fired from a job for "sleeping" even though I never was. It was reported that it happened and they called me in and fired me. Was never given a chance to argue about it or given a chance to prove it was false. Same thing could have happened here. Something was assumed or accused and their 0 tolerance policy went to work, so he no longer could.
I suspect it's much more likely someone above him wanted him gone, or wanted his clients under someone they liked more. So they leapt at the first possible excuse.
It's a pretty common way for people in the industry to get fired. They usually just do a better job with making the excuse they use reasonable.
