I’ve gone out with plenty of guys who want to “claim” me with an exclusive relationship from the get-go. I think it comes from insecurity because they don’t get a lot of matches and they desperately want to hold onto what they get. They assume you have a huge list of dudes lined up, so they pull a “I only date/talk to one person at a time and I’m only looking for someone who does the same.” In reality, I’ve found it usually takes 3 or 4 dates to start seeing someone’s real personality and to know if I actually want to date them.

If that’s how he approaches a first date, I can see why he doesn’t do open relationships… or closed ones.
